Intro
I know that these chips are low but since they are the first (non slugged) chips that I get and that they are the ones who get me into chipping, I wanted to give them some tribute.
I bought these chips back in 2014 at @Spinettis Gaming while in Las Vegas for vacation. There I really enjoyed the shop and especially discussing with Henry.
I already tried to sell these chips but in the end, I decided to keep them and use them to play outside my house where I don't want to carry my more valuable chips.

The Breakdown
This set has been bought to play one table (10 players) tournament with T5 as a base chip. The reason why I chose a T5 chip was to replicate Internet SnG structures which started with 1000 or 1500 chips on 5-10 or 10-20 blinds.

I also wanted to cover deeper starting stacks (up to 4000) and even allow one re-entry.

For the color-up, $5 are colored-up with $100 and $25 with $500.

Here's the breakdown:
$5 x 100
$25 x 100
$100 x 80 (incl. one per player to color-up the $5)
$500 x 90 (incl. one per player to color-up the $25)
$1000 x 30
Dealer button x 1

Starting stacks are 10/10/7/x.

I bought the dealer button later while ordering at @Apache.

I have some of these. Nice weight and sound (NexGen injected plastic material). The only minor thing about them is they are slippery (at least the new unused ones are). I'm building a "can be abused" set of these for my boys. They are also used as Monopoly chips during family game nights. They are great "no worry" chips!

I had Gear make some snapper labels to apply to the pinks (quarters) for use during family blackjack sessions. Since I'm using the pinks for snappers, I'll likely turn the gray's into quarters or NCV's.

These are great chips for the $$. I had a set of 1200 that I sold not too long ago, and only did it to fund new chip debauchery. Denali is right. Slick as hell. Great sound and feel.

I am thinking of Dunes for my first real step into chips... They look terrific and I think I like the lighter weight...

@TKO,

Honestly, there is at the moment a better cheap alternative if you're looking for a cash set and want to to get into chipping.

For a typical NL25 (.25 - .25) game or NL50 (.25 - .5) game, it would cost you $244 for 600 chips (+/- 41c per chip).
100 x .25
200 x 1
200 x 5
100 x 25

Thanks for this... I think these are ceramics? Never played with them before... they look great!

Yes, they are ceramics. But you shall try to handle few of them to check that you like them before buying them.

I have some samples in the mail right now... I bought the mixed sample set from Apache which has some clays, ceramics and China Clays?? I think that is what the Dunes Commemerative chips are? I am pretty new to all this...

No, Dunes Commemorative (like mine or the ones sold by @Spinettis Gaming ) are not "China Clay". They are more like "Nexgen" or "Progen" plastic chips.
The Dunes sold by @Apache are the China Clay version.

How do you tell the difference? They all look so similar. I know the authentic dunes are super expensive, but the spinetti sets look identical to the Apache poker ones...

By the way, how much did you pay per chip? Apache is about 0.42, spinnetti is about the same

I have a small set of these too. I really like them and want to buy more, but at .40 a chip, given the quality, they're a bit pricey. Well, what I really like is that this set has the .50 chips. I wish the china clay had a .50. Still like these and use them to play with my kiddos.

@TKO you can identify the Spinettis ones by the fact they have a faux-shaped label (Apache ones have full circled labels) and there is the word "commemorative" written on the ones sold by Spinettis.

Material is also different. I handle both. China Clay felt better to me. But I sold all my China Clays some time back when I saw durability issues with some series of China Clay in other threads of this forum.

At the time I bought my Dunes Commemorative at Spinettis, I think I paid 30c per chip. Currently tag is too pricey imho. At this price I would get the ceramic config I explained above.

I remember I've played in a Homegame couple of years back near Cologne, in which they used them (actually don't know if those from Apache or Spinetti). I really enjoyed them, probably one of the most likeable chips I've ever played with that are not Paulsons ;)

Some time ago I opened a topic about durability of CC.

I’m just curious to see if anyone ever had the same problems with Dunes Commemorative ? (chipping, flaking, chipping, crumbling, ...)

How can these chips be that slippery but having a crosshatch. Not only my faux clay did stack like bricks. Also my Super Diamonds I have now stack easily 100 chips high on flat surface.

I have a good deal in Europe for 25c/ chip. But stacking is Key for me. Should I get samples?

These are from the same material as the Dunes Commemorative.

I order there a small 6-max (200 chips) set as a starter set for my goddaughter who wanted « her own » poker set.

Quality control of the chips is however worse than than for the Dunes Commemorative. I got a few chips with labels off-centered. A part from that, nothing special to mention...

This set does not belong to me anymore.
I recently sold it to a French chipper.
