I have been trying to build a CC cash set, but now I'm thinking I may just go a bit further and get myself some really nice chips.

I see a lot of Paulsons and other chips going for really high prices, and I assume that is due to rarity and collector value.

I've noticed that Horseshoe Cincinatti chips seem to be around $1 a chip, which is more like what I'm after. Apache has a 500pc set that I am looking into.

What would be considered some of the more economical Paulson (or other 'real clay' chips) sets that are similar or maybe even cheaper in price than the Horseshoe Cincinatti's?

I'm mostly interested in inlaid chips with edge spots. I don't think the HS set has a $0.25 chip, so I may substitute with some other THC solid, which I see many others doing.

My cash set breakdown would be something like this (mainly going to be playing .25/.25 or .25/50). (I play with a bunch of limpers and min-raisers)

$0.25 - 200
$1 - 250
$5 - 200
$25 - 50

Thanks all!

I would try and get some nice RHC chips from a Chip Room sale if I were you. If sub $1per chip is the budget you can also checkout The Roadhouse chips that were released not too long ago.

But what about the fracs? $1/$5/$25, sure... I think TCR sales would be good for getting near that price. But not 25c

Yeah fracs as you mentioned, probably best off finding a nice cheap solid and doing a mill/label job.

Used to be you could just grab some starbursts and use them as fracs. Then everybody lost their collective minds and started amassing collections of solids to mill.

Thanks for all the responses!

When you mention chip room sales, are you referring to the site vendor TheChipRoom? If so I can keep my eye out on the classified section for posts from this user, unless there is a better way to go about it.

As for the fracs, for now I can just use my CC $0.25 chips, no big deal, as I look for some THC solids. I've noticed that mixing molds in a set is not commonly done, but I don't think I would mind if my fracs were not THC (at least for now, as a newbie).

It seems so far from these posts that the HS Ohio or Cincinatti are likely the most economical options. I'll keep an eye out for the Roadhouse as well. For now I could just make a wanted post on the classifieds and see if I can get a nice deal.

The Chip Room doesn’t post on the classifieds, all of his sales are big things that go down in his vendor forum.

It's actually easier to find THC solids than non-THC solids in general. A lot of casino fracs are hot stamped rather than inlaid, too.

Used roulettes (roulette mood, or THC/RHC),
starbursts, or any other non-denominated chips can make nice, affordable fracs to use with casino sets.

As someone who cares about fracs more than his kids, I know the pain of finding affordable ones all too well. I'm planning on picking up some RHC solids to mill with my soon-to-be milling setup. I think that this is The Way

If you arent doing the milling yourself then why not buy an economical RHC, remove the inlay yourself and relabel.

Much less expensive to do inlay removal, just make sure you find a chip that isnt a pain to remove the inlay on. The Horseshoe Cincinnati and Cleveland chips are all pretty easy to remove. So are the Roadhouse chips.

I had thought that milling would be faster for inlays. But, yes, I could just do inlay removal as well. Just haven't found a cheap enough RHC that I like

It may be difficult to find a whole set of Paulsons at average price under $1 per chip unless you're willing to go with poorer condition chips, or put in some serious work for milling and/or relabeling, and even then your materials costs will probably bring you over $1 a chip.

If you're willing to consider a Bud Jones set, I can do a 600-chip set with 100/200/200/100 breakdown of 0.25/1/5/25, shipped, for about $450 - that's 0.75 per chip. It's not Paulson clay, but they are casino legit, excellent condition, There are even some samples of these in the high end clay/plastic sample kit that's available for free so you can compare between them.

Borgatas are Bud Jones, right? Don't they have that weird suction effect? I don't see too many posts with Bud chips here, thought that was why...

Check out Aransas Queen chips. They are in moderately casino used condition. I sold my cash set for just around $1/chip including some fracs that I had milled.

Also, check out or look around for Horseshoe Cincinnati chips. Similar condition and probably somewhere around $1/chip.

Horseshoe Cincinnati’s that sold for under $1 each:https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/horseshoe-cincinnati-paulson-cash-set.56904/

Aransas Queens that sold for just over $1 each:https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/aransas-queen-700-chip-cash-set.49293/

I was referring to the Big Easy chips. They don't have the suction effect. I don't have the Borgata chips so I can't say as to their physical characteristics.

Thank you all so much!

I went ahead and made a wanted ad!

As for the bud jones, I am not very familiar with these. Are these clay? I will have to do some more research.

No, they are high-end plastic. Other plastic chip manufacturers include Matsui, Abbiati, and Bourgogne et Grasset. BJ and BG (as well as Paulson, etc.) are part of the GPI conglomerate now owned by Angel Holdings.

There is an Abbiati group buy being fulfilled at this moment. "Crown Plaza" theme. You can search the threads.
Multiple people have done Matsui group buys, so plenty of custom examples there, too. "Emerald Bay" was one of them.
