I’m looking to put together a small home tournament set that works for a max of 4 players. The goal is to keep it as compact as possible while still being practical for play, either for traveling with family or just when I play heads up against my wife/father in law.

I feel like between 2-4 denominations in t5 makes the most sense but not sure what a reasonable breakdown is.

What's the smallest feasible tournament set that still runs smoothly for 4 players?

Best I've got so far is:

50 - T20

25 - T100

25 - T200

25 - T500

5k starting stack.

I would prefer a more classic T25 with t25, t100 and t500:

12 x t25 --> 50 x t25
10 x t100 --> 40 x t100
7 x t500 --> 30 x t500

But if you need some re-buys, you need more t500 or t1000.

T5k is a deep starting stack for T5 base, unless your starting blinds are 10/20 or maybe a 5/10 freeze out.

T2K with T5 base starting at 5/10 (200BB) and 10/10/10/2 stacks requires only 128 chips for 4 players (includes extra T100 for colour ups) plus as many extra T500 you need for rebuys (if allowed).

40/40/20
T25/T100/T500 (or divide by 5 or 25 for T5 or T1)
Bank: 15,000

Heads up:
I tried 7,500 starting stacks but the 25s became too cumbersome in late stages. Therefore we (my wife and I) switched to 7,000 Stacks with the remaining T500 to color out T25s. Option of T5000 too depending on blinds and desired length.

(12 minutes or 10 minutes)
25/25 (optional)
25/50
50/100
75/150

100/200 (color up)
200/400
300/600
400/800
500/1000

Up to 5 players with 8/8/3 starting stacks for a T2500. Adjust blinds as desired. Can also do a small heads up cash game by moving a decimal place or as is (depending on T1, T5, T25 and desired cash stakes)

20x T500
40x T1k
40x T5k

gives you even after color up T500 and T1k, 50k per player and 100BB if you start with 500/500.

20/40/40 : one rack clean barrels if you are looking for something like that.
