Majestic or Empire Chips (1 Viewer)

Makes sense they are just cheap china clays. What chips do you prefer for your cash games? Any chips you would recommend in the $0.40-$0.60 per chip range?

Which one do you all prefer?
Dont ask us what we prefer. Get both, feel both, and tell us what you like. Or, alternatively, tell us what you like or chips that stand out to you and we can advise you one way or the other.

Personally I don't like either but I won't tell you why until you give us budget, and why you've narrowed it down to those two.

Why not ask you what you prefer? I have samples of both and I personally prefer the Majestic ones due to their looks and slightly heavier feel. I know these are budget options and do not compare to many high-end poker chips but because of my budget, I will have to make due. I also have used Majestic Star Casino chips coming in the mail soon and might indulge in a set of those if they are not overly worn out.

Definitely get samples of both.

Don’t let the naysayers get to ya. There are folks on here who own and advocate for beautiful chips that cost big piles of money. If you can afford to jump into those waters right out of the shoot, I still recommend getting samples of everything that interests way before dropping the money.

I think I read somewhere on here that chipping is a marathon, not a sprint.

Just as @NotRealNameNoSir indicated, I’d rather hear what you have to say about those samples before I give my opinion.

If you do not try the Greek Hybrids or TRK hybrid chips you have made your search too narrow and maybe your choice too soon.

I don't think we should be mentioning the ceramic hybrids with the small crown mold as "TRK hybrids" because they are not manufactured by TRK nor have anything to do with that respected company.

Maybe we should be calling them "Fake Scrowns" or "Frowns" for short.

Do you refer to CPC scrowns as “Fake Scrowns” or “Frowns”?

I've handled samples of both.

I like the feel of china clays (Majestic) a bit more than cards mold (Empire). Sounds like they are right for your budget and you like them, and that's what matters.

That said, hybrid ceramics are very popular right now, and they are in your price range with a longer lead time. I second checking those out.

Where can I find these chips? I am not familiar with them. I tried a sample of ceramics from brpropoker and they were my least favorite poker chip I have ever handled. They felt very light, and too much like “plastic.” I also did not like the smooth outer ring around the chip that made shuffling less enjoyable. Are these similar?

Having handled some hybrids (not Greek), I would describe them as similar to cards mold (Empire), with a contrasting texture label in the middle.

If those were your only two choices I’d say Majestics all day and I’ve never handled the Empires.

Majestics have a clay feel and from what I can tell the Empires and basically a Cards mold.

Majestics are the 39mm version of Apaches Royals and Royals rule.

I prefer the Greek mold to my Apache Royals and I love my royals. BRPro ceramics have a different feel to them than Greek mold. Look at the threads about the Greek mold to get an idea of what they look like. Chips shouldn’t be heavy unless you are buying the cheap metal slugged chips.
