One of us. One of US!!

Paulsons are tough on that budget. Casino used quality most likely, which aren't trash. They won't be sharp and "shiny". Better quality is going push you up to $3 each.

I’m looking to upgrade my at home set and get some Paulson chips. What does everyone recommend for 300 plus chips and on a $500 budget?
You will need more money and time to hunt the newest for sale post, set alerts, and this community is super cool, member reached out to me and sold me an awesome set! I started with a low budget and that went up fast, but totally worth it, i dont regret buying, i love my set and will probably never sell it. I bought multiple sets, and now im back hunting! buy nice or buy twice.

You can find Horseshoe Southern Indiana $1 chips in very good condition for around a dollar each. Most $5 chips are going to be around $2 or more each and fractional chips, .25 or .50 cent chips are where you are going to blow your budget. Cruise the classifieds to find deals, and good luck on your journey, and yes it will be worth the time you spend finding what’s right for you.

First, welcome to PFC. (Edit: Or PCF lol)

Second, get samples. Take your time and get samples. While you are getting samples, keep filling your piggy bank. When you find what you want on here, you will be ready. You will likely have to act very quickly. Chips, like my exes, won't stay lonely long around here.

Great idea. I was thinking of that myself which would also help jumpstart my chip collection of just chips from each states casinos

Example?

Not exactly trying to hijack this thread, but I'm curious what one can get on, say, a max $4/chip budget, ideally without having to wait around too much and be too aggressive about checking classifieds all the time. Or am I being unrealistic, and is it just the nature of supply/demand for Paulsons in 2023 that one has to be patient and persistent?

For good ones.... yeah pretty much.

For the better chips and the better deals, you have to be patient. Well, patient and lucky sometimes.

Every time I see someone come in new to this crazy game looking for Paulsons "on the cheap" or in a very short period of time, someone will pipe in with a "slow down and take a breath" comment. It's true. The best Paulsons are almost always from a closed casino buy from @TheChipRoom , and those usually go very quickly during the initial sale. Second hand market on those is often rarely the deal from the initial buy.

I'll beat other posters to the "slow down" comment, but also add in something I heard many, many years ago. There's the line:

"Better, Faster, Cheaper. Pick any two."

It holds true for many things, but is particularly true anymore here. If you want a better and faster chip, it's going to cost you money. If you want a faster and cheaper chip, it's not going to be that good. If you want a better and cheaper chip, it's definitely not going to be better.

Set your expectations accordingly.

My very first CPC set (well, ASM Maine... so long before it became CPC) was close to six months from order to delivery. In my first Paulson set from the Chip Room, I didn't order exactly what I needed (my fault) and it took close to two years and a bunch of money to finally get what I wanted.

Welcome and good luck with the hunt.
