I’m a newbie around here.
Right now I have two cash sets sorted out (700 chip HS cinci and a 800 chip palace casino set).
Now looking to get a 2-3 table tourney set. Haven’t thought about denom breakdown - doesn’t really matter.

Any suggestions and ideas would be greatly welcome.
Budget I’d like to keep to the 300-500 range.

Thanks !

Some questions first...

What’s your base chip? T5, T25, etc.?

What’s your planned starting stack? T2k, T10k, T25k, T50k, etc,?

Standard T10000 levels are probably your best value.

For 3 tables (30 players)

Chip / Starting Qty per Player / Total

T25 / 8 / 240
T100 / 8 / 240
T500 / 4 / 120
T1000 7 / 240
T5000 / 0 / 60

The excess T1000's can color up the 25's 100's exactly. Tailor the qty of your T5000's for the general number of rebuys you have, if any. The current quantity allows for around 20 with enough left over to color up everything thru the 500's.

900 chips on a $500 budget... 56¢ a chip. That's very close to some of the ceramic hybrid group buys that have ensued here. Watching for one of those in our classifieds is probably your best option.

I really like this breakdown and it makes a lot of sense! I’ve started watching the GB thread. I’m actually a fan of the chipco kind. Find them to be great value. Are the hybrids similar? They seem to appear a little ‘slippery’ from the pics. I guess I should get a sample set and see if I like em. Thx!

+1 for @JustinInMN's mention of brpro and abc. He's 100% right that they are excellent resources for inexpensive but good quality ceramics. I have 1000 of ABC's WPS Tribute chips myself that are semi custom.

However, the 64¢/chip price does not include edge spot alignment, which I highly highly recommend. For ME (and my acute affliction of OCD) alignment matters. If that's not important to you then.... enjoy. :D

If you're willing to consider non-denominated, once you work out your breakdowns I could do a 800 chip solid Paulson THC set in the mid $400 price range. Feel free to send me a private message.

Good point, this is just the entry point for some level of customization.

They have stock chips on both sites for less, but that's the downside to ceramics is the extra expense of aligned edges if the design needs it.

Heh. I have no ocd for aligned edges (so far anyway :)).
