Does anyone know any poker chips that I can get for a low price but still look cool and is good quality. They don't need to be casino grade, just something that looks cool and will last. Please and Thank You

Hi,

Everyone here will need some more info, eg, how many chips do you need? what's your budget? etc

in the mean time check out Apache Poker Chips - a vendor on this site, he has plenty of 'cheap' good looking chips for sale.

I see you are in Cincinnati - there are great Horseshoe Cincinnati chips around here. Quality Paulson chips from Cincy at a reasonable price might be the ticket for you. Pricing for cash sets tend to be reasonable and should last a lifetime.

You’d want to get china clays. They’re between .30-.50 a piece and won’t break the bank yet your buddies will still say they are nice chips as most normal people come from using plastic dice chips. Also, nexgen pros are nice for how cheap they are. Best stacking cheap chips that look like casino chips. Still hard for me to put my set up for sale of them even tho I’ve upgraded 10-fold ha

Most posters here will hear the term “nice” and think Paulson. However, China clays can also be quite “nice.” You don’t have to drop $2.00 a chip to have a nice set.

Don’t listen to the haters. If you are on a budget, China clays can be great. I started with a set of Milanos that make me happy and the people I play with like a lot. And as time goes on I’m slowly saving and accumulating a Paulson tournament set.

EDIT: just remember most of the people you play with will not care at all as much about poker chips as the people on this site who are trying to sell you chips. “Gee, I bought these and never used them, I’ll sell them to you for $2 a chip...” nobody I play with cares/notices the chips anywhere near as much as I do.

This is true. They will care more about a nice table and chairs, and barely notice the chips. Plastic sluggers with denominations will impress them as much as vintage TRK's.

I cannot, in good conscience, recommend China Clays *IF* there is a good alternative that's just a little more expensive but loads of difference in quality. There are good options even now in the Classifieds that are less than $1 a chip, real clay and excellent condition.

If you don't have to go for custom maybe try ceramik Old Havana Poker Club. I use them and I like them. Durable and easy to clean

$.30 a chip-$.40 a chip for China clays is about $200-$250 for a 600 chip set.

$1 a chip is $600 for a 600 chip set.

In some people’s world, budget wise, these are the same thing.

In my world, these are poker chips. Which means the entire expense falls under “exclusively dad’s entertainment.” Throw in the cards, the table, etc and this is not a small difference. It’s hard being middle class. :(

I guess I’m tying to say it’s a bigger difference on some wallets than it might seem.

Until I went semi-custom I used Poker Knights. Cheap but decent looking chips. You're looking at roughly $.16 a chip I think I got a 600 piece set for under $100 at one point. I still have them actually.

Your budget will determine how 'cheap' you can go but like has been said, your table and chairs matter more because we like comfort!

Find @Hobbyphilic on YouTube.

But plus one to "poker knights" or any of the claysmith offerings at the bottom end of the budget. 16/rack

China clays go around 40/rack, but honestly, I don't think they are impressive enough to be twice the price of the Claysmith chips. But either way, @Apache is the PCF vender with everything in selection.

In the middle, I like semi custom ceramics from @ABC Gifts and Awards for around 60/rack (depending on the quantity).

You can get used sets in the classifieds too. But take the time to do some research and get samples where you can.

This. I bought a set of Monaco Casino sluggers from discountpokershop.com. Frankly, I prefer them to Majestics and Dunes, as they're less than half the price, and not as slippery. They also feel better than the Poker Knights.

The Royals are a different story. They are definitely a step up.

I agree. $250 to $600 is a big jump. But there is a middle ground. There are amazingly good sets of 500-600 chips for mid $300-mid $400. That's not such a big leap.

I am still new to this part of the poker world and want to get started on my collection and get some chips to start playing with. I don't know the break down yet or if I'll be playing cash or tournament (most likely both). But I have found some chips that I think will be a good start to my collection and I wanted to see what you guys thought and if there were and other sets or chips that would be better. I want the chips to have pretty good quality but they don't have to be amazing (just able to last a long time and look good). For starters, I don't want to go over .50 per chip. The ones that I am interested in so far are Dunes clay poker chips at Apache poker chips, those costs.42 per chip. I was also looking at the Bluff Canyon Poker chips on the same website. I want the poker chips to look nice and have a pretty good quality for a beginner collector. Also if there are any cool dealers chips that would be nice too. Please and Thank You!!

Obviously, if I got the Dunes then I would also get the matching dealer chip.

I joined the forum this month and went from striped dice chips (5 cents each) to Dunes CC used via forum (30 cents each). They arrived on Tuesday and they were put into play on Friday (two days ago). I love them and the other poker players in my group that noticed a chip change also like them. I like the idea of entry level Paulson chips around $1 per chip, but it may take me a bit longer on this forum to get there. See pix...
