I'm no good at introductions so here's a couple random/relevant things about me:
  • I've long had an interest in casinos, chips, gambling, etc.
  • Mostly these days that means Craps or Blackjack, but I've started playing poker a little bit more frequently.
  • Back in 2021 I bought a set of Royals from Apache. For a Craps layout and needing many chips, I think they are pretty much perfect (pics below). The five dollar chip rocks and gets lots of use for craps.
  • Recently, I've been thinking about expanding into some other chips—Paulsens of some sort probably as budget expands.
  • Statistics background which I've used to do some analysis and simulations of casino games (for the fellow nerds out there)
  • Local to Chicago

This seems like a stellar community — looking forward to being part of it more

Welcome! I wondered if any craps players were using 43mm chips for their games. On my layout, they're fine for 4-6 players, but with 8, there's not enough room on the numbers for everyone's chips. You haven't run into any issues with the larger chips?

Truth be told the layout I use is not full regulation size anyways so it gets tight with about 4 players per side—but that would be the case with regular sized chips too. At the time I bought the Royals, I hadn't thought about this long term either.

I guess maybe a good excuse to start looking into some additional chips... :cool

Hello and welcome to the community! Cool craps setup!
Thank you! Definitely a minimum viable set-up for my small apartment at the time. The chips and dice being probably the best part of it.

Hopefully a full table (and more chips!) in my future

That makes sense. And yeah, definitely sounds like a good reason to get more chips! I had a cash set, tournament set, and craps set before I found this forum, and was just planning on getting some Tinas, but now have eight racks of Paulsons here or on the way that are going to lead to at least three more different sets.

That sounds awesome.

What chips do you use for craps these days?

I bought 750 of the Phoenix Card Room China Clays ($5-$5k denominations--haven't been using $1 chips) to use on it originally, and they've been fine for about 44 cents each, delivered quickly when I was trying to get a game going.

The past couple weeks, I've been working on some budget Paulson upgrades, replacing the $5s with Lady Lucks, $25s with Majestics, $100s with NOLAs from the Black Friday sale, and added a couple racks of $1 HSIs in case we want to play cash instead of tournament style--planning to relabel all of them except for the NOLAs. Definitely a work in progress at this point, but super fun.
