Those posts don't say they actually USE those sets, just that they bought them!

Hey, look, don’t ask me to apply logic to chipping, okay?

But in actually our group just had our first successful mixed game night, including some limit games, so I know it could eventually see play. Who knows when that’ll be - that night ended up 3 days before the arrival of our newborn, so it’ll be a moment - but I do know at least it won’t just collect dust.

One of the best things about reading this entire thread is seeing people over time say things like “my group never spreads any limit games” and then seeing them post a really awesome limit set the next year - because boy do I feel like I’m on that same path right now!

Yup. I’ve had mine for a few years now and still haven’t used it, but one of these days, I swear!!!!
It’s been easy to justify because I got like 900 clay L molds for about a hundred bucks, so it’s easy to keep them even if they haven’t gotten played. What’s less excusable is that I’ve been working on a much more expensive set of Paulsons to replace them. Because, one of these days, I swear!

I only play limit. My two cash sets are only used by the kids and myself when playing the horse racing game.

The Bee Room was one of the first sets I was amazed by, when I first got into chipping.

Sadly, today I look at this and thing "man, that set is too small for me to use".

Still brilliant chips. But what I thought was huge then and now are two different things.

I don’t know about the rest of the set, but there seem to be enough $25s.

I remember lots of racks of 1s when it was first posted on the blue wall back in the day. No recollection of the 25s..

I wonder what denominations stud was played with in casinos before hold'em. I watched the rounders scenes and they allhad 1s 5s and 25s, the latter I thought didn't make sense cause some of the games were 5/10.

Not ideal for "action," bit 1/2 worked well with .25, 1 and 5 denoms in my last game.

For my limit games now, I need at least 24 racks of the workhorse. If I was buying new, I'd round it up to 30 just to be safe.

I have 8. Maybe it works because I play with 6, maybe it works because we’re very loose and money just circulates… but 24 seems highly excessive.

I have 24 players over 3 tables now. 24 racks is minimum.

A lot of people love low stakes poker.

What is this place?!? I do not even play limit… and I have surprised myself contemplating the absurd fleeting thought of designing a limit set!

I think the constraint of making something great with focussing only on two chips opens lots of cool possibilities.

Unlike No Limit, the numbers in Limit do not indicate the blinds, but rather the small bet and the big bet. The blinds are 1/2 the small bet and the small bet.

With $1 chips as your smallest denom, a typical game would be 2-4 Limit. The small blind pays $1, the Big pays $2. Pre flop and post-flop (before the turn) bets are limited to the "small bet" ($2). All bets after the turn and the river are limited to the "Big Bet" ($4). It cannot be more or less than the indicared amount (unless you are all-in for less).

Betting is usually capped after a bet and 3 raises, unless there are only 2 players in the hand (and it is not a tournament).

2-4 or even 3-6 (usually with a $2 small blind) works pretty well with 100 chips per player

Edit: and this is usually split pot circus games. So, not sure if it makes a difference with pots being split.

I have one group where we play max 8 handed, $2/$4 limit. Though I am finishing off a two table Paris limit set hopefully soon ()or can up the stakes a little) We all start with one rack $1’s, except the banker (me). I start with $300, a rack of $1’s and 10 $20’s. This usually lasts all night (typically 7-midnight or so). I use my $20’s for anyone needing to rebuy or I am losing. We almost play exclusively split pot games. And the big winner and loser on the night is typically around $200. Everyone else in between.

We used to play limit with regular cash sets. And we still do sometimes because 1) I have quite a few sets and that way they get play 2) for variety of chips. It is doable, but there is a bunch of making change throughout the evening.

I ran a low-stakes 75¢-$1.50 game (3 chip, 6 chip). As it was limit, there was no restriction on how much you could buy in for.

One player bought in for $1000.

I had the chips to cover him.
