Damn that was a fun game last night. Could've went either way! With any luck, the Panthers and Bolts beat each other senseless in the first round and the Leafs can actually get past the second round this year!

The Lightning score a touchdown vs Buffalo and Kucherov gets 2 goals and 1 assist to secure the Art Ross Trophy. More importantly, the Bolts are getting close to securing home ice for the first round of the playoffs vs the Panthers.

We're not dead yet. MTL has to lose against Carolina. Then CBJ has to win against Philly and NYI. This season has been such a storybook. I mean...we have to get in...right?

I would wager he goes to Buffalo in a deal for Peterka. Even though Tampa doesn't own a 1st rounder for the next three years, they'll pull some more devil magic to get it done.

Howard doesn't have to sign, even if he's traded. If he's not under contract by next summer, he's a UFA as I understand it. So I imagine any trade will include a pre-trade contract discussion with the new team.

Of course. Inquiring parties would do their due diligence with his agent I'm sure before engaging talks with Tampa.

The idea of trading him this offseason would be to get better value than a late 2nd round pick for his rights. Tampa would get the 63rd overall next year as a comp pick if Howard doesn't sign.

Maybe a team trades their late 1st for him between now and the draft, but history shows that this is unlikely. Likely return is two 2nd's or a 2nd and a prospect.

Sure, we'd be happy to take him, develop him, make him disgruntled until he wants to leave, and then trade him. We're essentially a farm team for the league the last 15 years.

Peterka is basically a younger Jeff Skinner. Complete defensive liability and a streaky scorer. He's young so it could change. I'd be happy to trade him for a late 20s something veteran that has more of a two-way game.
