Sounds like you had a heck of a run. Any advice for a total noob to try to snag a couple of racks of minty fresh 1's? A friend of mine is going to Vegas at the end of the month, but he knows nothing about chip collecting. Since he's staying at Bally's, I've asked him to try to get a couple of racks of minty 1's, but think he might get a negative response from the cage. Any tips based on your trip? I don't want him to have a bad experience.

IMO its basically luck whether or not they happen to have a rack of mint 1s in stock.
Second huge thing is getting the cashier to sell em to you.
If you want mint chips then ask at every casino main cage. They are hard to get. 10 places will say no then 1 place might give em to you.
Dont be afraid of asking the same place multiple times at diff times of day.
I can share more when I am home and in front of a pc.

That's an interesting insight, thanks. I will play a home game with my friend before he flies out the next day for a week in Vegas. His focus will be poker tournaments, but I will try to give him some tips to pick up a couple of racks of minty fresh chips. I just don't want him to have a bad experience. I guess if he's able to pick up some VGC / mint chips, I'll view it as a huge success.

Sorry to the people who made requests that I could not fulfill. I put many hours on my new running shoes and did my best to get as many chips as possible. I probably spent too much time trying to get chips and should have spent more time by the pool. Apparently I missed an amazing bikini contest which a grandma won. All my friends ended up dancing with these grandmas by the pool .... The pool at Planet Hollywood is a blast if you have the chance...very party vibe.
I never set foot inside Silver Sevens or Mirage and didn't get any Venetian chips either.
I do have a mint rack of Park MGM chips available. Please PM if someone wants these.
