Not Mine Lakeside Inn and Casino Auction in March (2 Viewers)

Forgot to bid on the 3 dealer trays of tourney solids, anyone know what they went for or if somebody on here got em?
They all went for over a buck a chip before fees or shipping for the solids. No deals to be had. attached are a couple pics snipped from an email....these were the prices (before fees) while the auction was still ongoing, but I threw in the towel and unfollowed the auction.

According to my friend who owns the auction company there was a person from Michigan who filed complaints with the NGC regarding the destruction rule in NV. According to my friend this person made multiple calls to the NGC. Now what would an asshat from Michigan care about a small lot of casino chips from Lake Tahoe?? Fortunately in the end we resolved this issue and we’re told that the NGC would never let another chip out of Nevada again. (Not sure why they care either) we made strong arguments regarding non value chips and tournament chips and were told they will be addressed in near future ordinances and included in the destruction code. If your sale was cancelled I will have good news when I get home from Nevada. In a way it was good as it definitely changed the prices. The NGC would not talk to much more about their position. To the Michigander if you’re a member here...........stick it in your as................... yea. That

So all the drama drove the prices up? Makes sense, I guess. I guess this just increases the value of harvesters.

This is a bummer as I was hopeful that this sale was going to open the doors for NCV chips from Nevada.

Unfortunately government agencies are protective of their perceived power.
Totally agree!!!!

The chip destruction concept should be argued that it destroys historical items. The NJGC states the main reason is accountability and that unaccounted for chips value is placed in escrow for customers who accidentally walked off with a chip. Casinos notify the public in advance when the chips will no longer be accepted but I guess thats not good enough.

I think word got out on this auction to drive prices up. Not sure about the other stuff.

Michigan Heretic! Burn him at the stake! Arrgh!

I wonder what a public bashing is going to do. The person in question could have had a very legitimate reason for making the calls.

Maybe the person works in some way for the comission? I've no clue, but there could at least be a few reasons.

Would be odd to call otherwise.
Exactly. And I’m sure someone from Michigan doesn’t work for the Nevada gaming commission. I can think of no valid reason for this complaint. But regardless whoever they are they’ve been beaten back and the sale completed. Better luck next time. It was simply a douche move.

Nevada has a gaming commission and a gaming control board. The board has many full time employee’s, drafts regulations, and enforced them. The commission is a public policy advisory board, and a secondary approval over the board. I don’t think that the commission has many full time employees, including commission members.

I understand that you are frustrated. However, if I understand the thread above, you benefited from the Michigan persons actions in the short term, and that the board is likely looking at changing the chip destruction process in the long term to include more types of chips. If the board is actually doing this, they will post the draft rules on their website, and you can comment on them publicly at the appropriate board meetings. You can have you voice if you choose.

For historical perspective, the board has received many complaints over the years about chips, generally relating to the fairness of the distribution process. I few hours searching thechipboard might yield details, as this happened many years ago, and the board was interested in making changes.

As to the person in Michigan, I am glad that you are confident in your opinion that today he is on the wrong side of your perceived sense of justice, perhaps righteously, perhaps not.

Calling this person out publicly, by name, seems like a harsh reaction, especially in absence of facts. I sincerely hope that you never take a position on something where someone perceives that you need to be called out publicly on the internet.

Wishing you the best!

John

Thanks for the info. Fairness of the distribution process?

Incomplete sentence, ... for commemorate chips.

Many years ago people would complain that some people would get most or all of a chips in a release, and then mark them up for a profit as they had a monopoly on the market.

In one case, I believe that someone bought all 500 of that years ccgtcc convention chips from the orleans, sold them at $10 - $15 each, and damaged the remaining ones by cutting into the edges to make them less appealing before cashing them back in.

wherever two or more people are competing for a profit, the loser will often run to the authorities in an appeal to fairness. This is a universal doctrine.

Seriously?? They’re obsolete poker chips from a closed casino. I see no reason why anyone would have a problem with it. Did I benefit from his complaint? No I did not. I got lucky that the law was unclear. I got lucky that when the agent, not the advisory citizen, the law enforcement agent of the NGC told us we had to “read between the lines of the law” there is no reading between the lines of any law any where. Period. And calling out public information isn’t harsh it’s going to be a matter of public record from the government not of my doing. I’ve asked here for anyone’s rendition of a valid reason anyone from Michigan would give two shots about chips for sale in Nevada. As for my actions sir, I don’t do anything in this world that I would care if it was reported or “called out” in public. So there’s that. Again they are invalidated poker chips from a closed casino, give me one good reason they should be destroyed? (And I’m not even speaking of the cash chips) but I feel the same way about those. The place has been closed. The owners gave up their gaming license and are at the point in their lives where they will not Apply for one again. NGC only enforces on licensees. So the cash chips may appear one day. Are you from Michigan? All I asked was why? I have my theory on the motive but theories are like opinions........ I guess I’m just curious...

1. Fairness of distribution? Not the governments job in hobbies.
2. monopoly?? Really?? Like one guy having an inside track and selling obsolete casino chips from casinos on the internet? No complaints there I guess eh. Only when their from Nevada makes them regulated items? Hmm. GO LIONS!!

I agree with you on both parts. I can’t see running to any gaming agency over commemorative chips, but others did, in multiple jurisdictions, and those actions from years ago impact decisions and policies by those agencies today.

I provide this information not as justification of anyone’s behavior, but for background on why the board might handle things the way that they do.

I personally have no issue with the distribution of obsolete chips of any form, and I don’t have any arguments against that happening. In fact, I would advocate to it to happen in Nevada.

My point above is that I don’t know the reasoning why the Michigan person would object, but I would be interested in hearing it before I call them out.

For the record, I live in Nevada, not too far from the lakeside inn.

This speaks volumes as to the level of your knowledge. Assuming you mean The Chip Room, he is not the only person pursuing this type of business, he is just more public and (maybe) more successful at acquiring the chips.
