Laid-off into Retirement? (2 Viewers)

Sorry to hear but congrats my friend, a mandatory summer holiday with plenty of meet-up travelling.
You will be alright, no doubts.

Ps. There is always a bed and home in Belgium for you...

Sorry to hear about the job, Forrest. Retiring and becoming a meet-up professional doesn’t sound too bad though! Looking forward to seeing you again soon
Now you have some time….

Write a book about OFCP on the poker circuit, with all of your rascally pals and new bad beat stories based on circus games across the globe.

Give an AI the cast of characters and their traits, set up the event place descriptions and hosts, then set different chapters in different places with different mixes. Tweak as needed to reflect reality, self publish in the vacant niche market.

Seriously man, one of life’s curveballs. Full confidence this will lead to another exciting chapter in your life!!

I want a copy of this book. And I know it's 100% doable!

A similar thing happened to a family member a while back, wasnt 100% ready when that call came. But he figured it out and now very happily enjoying retirement

Enjoy the summer Forrest and best of luck figuring out the next chapter!

You’ll be fine mate. I lost my job six years ago and went on to start my own business. I put on loads of weight and my hair turned white. Other than that it was a great idea  :ROFLMAO:

But you've also created a lot of art in that time that's made it into the poker rooms of members all over the world!

Last night, my boss scheduled an impromptu meeting for this morning, with no discernable reason or agenda. The company is pretty slow on business, so my spidey-sense starts tingling. Sure enough, my position has been eliminated effective this morning and my 3Y stint with this company is officially over. They are paying 200+ hours of accrued PTO, providing a reasonable severance, and unemployment benefits will then kick in. I can also now use my HSA to fund insurance premiums for the rest of the year. The end result of all this? I will look for a perfect match fully-remote job, but I also may have just retired! I'm going to enjoy my time @w00zie 's Black Forest meetup in Germany, potentially extend my travel dates for @BonScot 's event in Glasgow and see what makes sense after visiting @Gunnar and the family in Iceland. I hereby proclaim 2025 as "The Summer of Forrest", Costanza-style.

10 years younger and you beat me to the punch…..congrats, not sure how you pulled it off, but well done

It’s a bummer about your job. I had a similar instance, I never looked back
, enjoying every minute

Sometimes life has bigger plans for us than we realize and it sounds like the job is just getting in your way. Annoying when you don't get any notice, but I'm glad you can find the positive in this. Enjoy the extra meetup time and congratulations on the well earned retirement.
