Old school Reno cool. Playable as hell. Hundo is pure sex.

Special thanks to

@JFCJ - for selling these, mocking up the add-on, and dealing with my random barrage of PMs
@Godzilla28 - for generously sending me a rack of $5s for free
@Johnny5 - for his awesome add-on design
@LundmarkTSP - for not destroying the chips

Beautiful set and proposed add-ons. I feel like green on the frac would also work as you have 2 tones of "grey" in adjoining chips as spots.

Who made the originals? How does that yellow compare to any of the yellows currently offered by CPC?

Thanks so much! I believe they are Burt chips from the 70s, but someone more knowledgeable can correct me if I'm mistaken.

Green could definitely work for the frac. To be honest, I'm 50/50 on whether I decide to go with a frac. I seldom play with them, and I already have several custom sets with fracs. May just do 500 x $1 when the mold runs again and call it a day.

See below for colors. Can't remember if this is CPC or ASM era sample.

This is one design I just don't get. I absolutely love it but I loathe and celebrate the font at the same time. It's so 'unconventional' it's amazing.

This is a long winded way for me to say I'm in for a sample set. ;)

May sound weird, but the quirky inlay always reminded me of the game "Adventure" for Atari. Used to play it with my dad back in the day. He passed very young (54), so seeing these chips always brought a smile to my face as I reminisced. I feel fortunate that I could get a nice set of them.

If you dont go with a frac then maybe you could consider a non conventional colour for the $1? A green base perhaps?

The whole set uses what we would now deem as unconventional colours for a Vegas set so why not continue that theme for missing denoms? Just thinking out aloud here.

I didn't own a 2600 growing up but one of my friends did. That was a fun game... a bit nuanced for me at the time but I too have fun memories of it. I'm sorry to hear of your dad but it's great you have an excellent memory to keep you happy.

As for the font, I think the designer tried their darnedest to mimic this (see below) and had to take a few liberties to make it happen. The more I stare at it, the more I admire the effort (and outcome). It's one of those happy accidents in design that just mysteriously happen from time to time. It'd be great to hear exactly how this came to be.

Oh and if you ever want to give Adventure another go, here it is: https://www.retrogames.cz/play_066-Atari2600.php (Hit F12 to start) :)

Thanks so much all. Really appreciate the kind words.

Down for some opinions. Got some advice from a trusted chipper who recommended I move away from the blue $1. I pulled out my sample and looked at some combinations. I will NOT be doing a frac, so $1 only is the consideration with the rest of the set.

Can't find my Charcoal (which could be cool), but check out these. If I get a few mocks/recommendations, I may toss up a poll. Only thing to be considerate of is the muted colors in the rest of the set. I'm not locked down to any typical $1 colors.

Truly grateful for any guidance.

Dan

Retro / light green FTW! Love a green dollar, personally. Would actually like to see the light green as the main colour, with the retro green as the spots.

I had light green in my head the whole time hence my initial suggestions. I would avoid the monotone version as it doesn't fit the theme.

If you used green and orange then your set only contains primary and secondary colours plus the 2 tones.

Chocolate base with orange or green also works.

Not sure if there's enough of a contrast on these...

Wife loves the Lt Blue and Pink, but the contrast is tricky and it looks like a baby shower gift. She also likes the Lt Green and Pink, which is probably our #2 choice (thanks @jr8719)

Ultimately, we found a charcoal dealer button that went very nicely with light green. @BGinGA recommended this via PM, and I should know by now to not spend any extra time thinking about it and just listen to him.

I'm going to kick this over to J5 for the final mock. Thanks @davislane for originally mentioning green, and to everyone else who weighed in. DiaSqr runs in about 8 months, so there's plenty of time to change my mind :wtf:

I like the charcoal with green, but I'm sure how I feel about it in the context of the rest of the set. I like @jr8719 's mock up with the green base and DG Peach or Tiger spot.

DIASQUARE is running in about 8 months? Score! My order will be finalized as soon as artwork is ready!

CPC add-ons are in!!! Chips turned out perfectly. Between the OG $5/$25/$100 chips and the add-on $0.25 and $1, it is a very playable, multi-table set.

Will be put in play for the first time at my meetup in September.

Thanks to @Johnny5, @BGinGA, @JFCJ, @Godzilla28, and everyone else above who shared their opinions above.

Awesome Dan, those came out great!

Any differences in diameter between the CPC and OGs?
Thanks Phil. Not as much of a difference in diameter, but thickness is extremely different obviously. Nearly all of the $5s I have are bike tires. The ultrasonic on a lower temp and 1/2 Lundmark got them looking much better.
