Hello all!

I host a home game in which my 6 and 13 yr old have taken an interest. Obviously they won't be a part of that crew, but thought maybe I could create a kid-friendly home game.

The Paulson WTHC will not be taken out for those events. Since the kids will bite the,, try to break them, take them, throw them, etc. any ideas? I hate to say it, but was thinking of using those cheap bingo chips as starters. They are cheap, don't care if I don't get them all back and I want to see if they are really interested in moving up the game.

That being said, I do like the idea of the younger one learning how to add up his chips, count the pot, and consider simple math. So, having 25 cents, 50 cents, $1 might have some value as well.

Any and all thoughts, opinions and comments welcome.

Thanks for being a part of this helpful community.

There are several ceramic and china clay options that are fairly cheap as well. My buddy just picked up a set of Venerati Ceramic chips. Their affordable, durable, and gives you another reason to own more chips.

One of my buddies has Veneratis. Nice to play with, yet affordable. Very good suggestion.

Although, you can probably go with anything as long as the colors are pretty. My 14 and 16 year old are surrounded by Paulsons, TRKs, and BCCs every time they are in our basement. They couldn't tell the difference between my Top Hat & Cane World chips and the cheapo set that I let them use (other than the pretty colors). :ROFLMAO:

I would not worry about kids that old biting the chips. They will lose them though or put them in a pocket headed to the wash or try adding the chips to a Lego construction . . . you get the idea.

I'd go with a cheap set of denominated chips. not only can they be used for card games, but also as a substitute for play money in games like monopoly.

Have fun with the kids now, the get too old for it really fast -=- DrStrange

i bought a ton of the empress chips for this exact reason for holiday poker with family n friends of all ages, lost a few but they were cheap and plentiful.....then when the CPS group buy came around they were and still are the best chip for that use, my opinion, sold off the empress and bought 800 chip cash set.....includes a whole lot of nickels, perfect (y)

*gasp*

Empress chips bought as disposables, then replaced by CC's?

This hurts mah heart!

(I completely understand, though, and agree that they were cheap and plentiful at the time.)

When I was young we just used our own change. Pennies, nickels dimes, and quarters. It makes it real without costing them their shirt, or yours.

Desert palms from Apache .14c/e with denoms. Or cheaper just roll with a set of dice chips

yeah but at that time i wasnt going to use my other casino sets.....i do remember my niece's son dipping an empress chip into his milk glass thinking it was an oreo...lol...still today i think the Empress chips are one of the best looking chips around, simple classic design, easily identifiable and i dont regret selling them off but they probably are the only set i would like to have back.

at one time towards the end Jim was selling them as low as 19 cents each just to clear them out...i dont remember exactly but i would like to know if someone remembers how many he sold to the CT goup at that time and if the price got that low...they were 25 cents and special sale i think he would drop em a few pennies......i have yet to see a big set come up for sale which is strange considering the amount sold..:coffee:

i have yet to see a big set come up for sale

Biggest individual set I've seen come available in the past 15 months is 650 chips. Other than that it's been 500 or less w/the possibility of add-on racks - although you/I easily could have bought multiple 500pc sets from that person (and I'm kicking myself that I didn't avail myself of that opportunity now, since I could have had my primary $1's done by now...oh well).

My kids are 7 and 4, and I play various games with them using my custom CPC chips multiple times per week. I've never had anything happen to one of the chips. They understand that these are "special" and they're always excited and happy to get to play with them rather than that stupid "paper money." If you're going to spend that kind of money on chips, it should be something that the whole family can share in, IMO (and my set was definitely designed with the whole family in mind as well.)

That said, make sure there's carpet or a rug where you're playing - even the most careful kid will drop a chip occasionally. And they stay locked up when not in use.

:(...u guys are killin me, dam those are nice sets...so i prolly will be buyin a set in the future 4 X what i sold mine for, really the only set i would ever consider buyin back...thanks for the pron

edit: forgot i still have 120 hundos !!!!!!! :LOL: :laugh::LOL: :laugh::LOL: :laugh::LOL: :laugh::LOL: :laugh::LOL: :laugh::LOL: :laugh::LOL: :laugh::LOL: :laugh: no they are not for sale...ok a bazillion$$ maybe

sorry op no more threadjack
