I’ve been chipping for a long time, bought and sold 10s of thousands of chips. I have a ton of good used casino racks, and a ton of werneke boxes. My chip closets appearance doesn’t do my collection justice.

Over the last decade I have always kept chips I use in racks and minty stuff in boxes (usually from Jim) but I will say, I’ve always been a bit scared of the effects of stacking the racks and the weight it puts on the chips if I stack em high, also, the racks wobble side to side, especially on used chips.

Boxes are great, but they hide the chips completely.

HOLY CRAP. Things have changed.

These China Chip Racks literally solve every little problem I can imagine regarding storage.

Thank you @justincarothers for doing these group buys!

Literallly, this is the most helpful chip accessory I have ever bought. And they are SOOOO Afdordable, they were cheaper than used casino racks.

I don’t really see any downside whatsoever i using these racks.

Thank you. ! I’ll post some pron as I transfer over my collection.

Do they click securely closed?

They are tight, fit perfect, but not quite a full security “click”.

Matsui ships with a little sticker across the seam. I can see how for shipping, that’s smart.

They have little nubs on the tops/bottoms that make them line up and stack perfectly, not slide off each other.

The coolest part is that each side is literally the same thing, so you can flip em upside down and they still work.

I think the only downside is that they can't fit as well as Matsui's in traditional birdcages, right?

I was just going to ask, they look like they were made specifically for 39mm chips, so do they fit inside a standard birdcage?

I’m not sure, but I don’t see how they wouldn’t. These things fit like a glove.

There are multiple sizes available, this is the smallest. Fits only 39mm type chips.

There’s a size available that fits 39 and 43

And one bigger than that also.

"standard" birdcage is a tricky phrase. I have several and they are all a little different. My 43mm and 39 mm racks fit in them just fine. A 1000 birdcage will hold 8 43mm racks or 10 39 mm racks

This is 43 mm racks:

Right, I have 3 different styles of birdcages, but each of them hold Matsui racks just fine. The difference is that an 1000 chip cage will still hold 10 Matsui racks. It's probably not an issue if you only plan to put 800 in a 1000.

I also use a lot of 600 chip cages. Only being able to fit 400 chips in those is a deal breaker for me. Might not be for other people, but just pointing out that you can't get a full birdcage with these racks.

I think they’re pretty ugly. Maybe people don’t agree. Or maybe they just don’t care. I can certainly appreciate carrying 4 racks securely, left handed. But they’re not for me.
I'm curious, do you also think Matsui racks are ugly too? I actually like the way the Matsui's look.

But the downside for me is only being able to fit 400 chips in a 600 carrier. I do wish the Matsui/Apache racks weren't so fragile and locked in a little better. But you can't beat having them fit flawlessly in a birdcage.

Do you only have 43mm chips? If you are using 39 mm chips then the 39 mm racks fit 10 to a birdcage. I prefer these over Matsui myself. Much better rack.

I think matsui racks are worse. But they’re kind of the same - I just prefer the look and simplicity of traditional racks

Ah, excellent distinction! I have both 39mm and 43mm sets. Some of them are mixed, too (basically any casino RHC like HSI). But for the case where I have only 39mm in the set, then it's good to know that they fit 10 to a cage (or 6 to a cage for the 600).

I might have to try some of these out for my 39mm sets. Is there a group buy for them?

I will have a new one up next week

There have been folks here that complain about getting racks out of the bottom of the Versa birdcage chip cases.
These new chip racks from Justin’s group buys completely solve the issue.
Since the rack doesn’t have a straight edge along tte side, it’s even easier to reach to the bottom and grab the racks. Your fingers go into the spaces between chips and the racks pop right out.

You know, I kinda felt similarly before I ever had them, and the Matsui racks always seemed “loose” looking for 39mm chips.

But once I realized these new smaller ones from Justin were available, I had to try them. Awesome.

They say the honeycomb is one of the strongest structural shapes in nature, it’s evident here, it’s that same hexagon grid that’s doing all the lifting with these things. It’s pretty comforting to know that my expensive ass paulsons don’t have 50 pounds of lead resting on them. It’s like each barrel has its own perfect little house.

It’s science.

Literally carying 4 racks with my lone left hand, feels so secure.

I haven't tried this with mine, but I'd be a little wary of them spilling (mostly based on whether or not I "seated" the racks properly on top of each other). Of course I'm carrying cheap Gemaco Tropicana and Tina no mold/cards mold chips in them, so no big deal if they spill.

I do find that to stack the racks, I have to wiggle them on top of each other a little before they seat. (To the Out-Of-Context thread I go!)

Do they click securely closed?
They do, but for heathens like myself who carry them in backpacks and not securely in bird cages, I find some cheap rubber bands (or free if your postal carrier bundles your mail in rubber bands every day) around the first "knob" on each end (again with the Out-of-Context thread) of the closed rack helps the lids from coming off when in a backpack...

...But I'd first recommend not carrying them in a backpack.
