Just bought my last poker chips! (1 Viewer)

There are far more nefarious things to be doing with your time or far more unhealthy.

I’m a repeat quitter buyer person myself. Much like @joeyshin points out, I’ve repeatedly quit buying and even quit PCF for 45 days or so, but I couldn’t stay away.

I recently sold off a big chunk of singles and samples and yet, I reloaded on others only weeks after making self proclamations of quittery(it’s not a word, but I’m making it one here) and success. Lmfao!

I’m seriously hooked on these chips. I don’t know how to quit. That’s the problem.

If you not committing any crime or hurting anyone (including yourself) poker chip collecting is always considered a hobby and not an addiction

Although some people might felt Buyer's remorse after having made a purchase. It is frequently associated with the purchase of an expensive item.

Correct, but if someone buys so many poker chips that they hurt their bank account considerably, then are they hurting themselves? Suppose I make minimum wage and I spend $15,000 on various high-end poker chip sets because I love them so much, and I even borrow money at a payday loan place to pay for it. Someone who makes minimum wage shouldn't be spending that kind of cash on a hobby because it definitely hurts them, but maybe it's a compulsion where they can't stop themselves which would make it an addiction. People have all kinds of weird addictions, search youtube for the show "My Strange Addiction". Fascinating stuff.
 
My particular addiction involves aquiring a set or two of a notable mold type which, for the most part, has kept me from some of the total madness i see here daily. I will also add that the newest sets that have come available, mostly RHC, for whatever reason.... I'm immune to them. On the other hand,TRK's have really had quite an impact on my hobby for almost 2 years now and, its a good thing i only have a girlfriend, not having to truly tell someone how much you spent on chips works well for me. I have discovered that, besides the budget that TRK's demand, getting only one, or two chips at a time is fun too, but you have to accept it. Earlier on, i was rabidly addicted to making a set, and now it's more of a journey which i have come to accept. I did think for a moment that i would be done with the completion of the TRK set, but i see now that is not the case... I've recently started picking up some attractive LGK's and H-molds, so its definitely not over for me...

Its funny how many times I've said I'm done buying.

Now that I'm playing smaller stakes, 1c-2c and 10c-20c, my chip needs are only 1 more rack of Aurora Star quarters..
Then, I'm done!
But will have nickle labels made for some bluepurple chips I have.
 
I'm up to a SPW cash set, a Paris cash set, a sunfly tournament set, a huge limit set, and now eagerly awaiting a CPC tournament set. Probably sell the Sunfly's when I get the CPCs, then maybe down the line replace the Paris set with some kind of personalized label set or go CPC. Could even reuse most of the Paris chips I have with a custom label set. Will have to resist the urge to buy 1c SPW chips, I tell myself maybe I could play with family but I know that won't happen haha.

Are there spotted red or yellow THCs below $5 ea? Not the worst idea to sell the Paris $5s and replace with something a little more unique, and I don't love the idea of relabeling live $5s. Love the $1s though, those would stay the $1 or quarter if I did relabel.
 
I do think about a CPC set on occasion. I think I'm a ways off from that though.

I have a custom labeled RHC tournament set, CIC bud jones cash set, including custom cic quarters from Matsui, and a THC mixed cash set.
