Every time I trawl eBay I always seem to come across garbage lots of singles and wonder do people actually buy that crap? (e.g. https://www.ebay.com/itm/362881916545?)

I still get a little tilted every time I see such lots and wonder to myself are people that naïve to buy that crap? Then I remember a time before I knew of the existence of PCF and the answer is an invariable yes.

I'm slowly seeing the same practice creep into PCF and was curious about other members' thoughts on the matter?

You never know what people may use them for. Singles collections aside, folks use chips like that for art, donations, gifts, toys for kids, who knows really.

We keep some junk chips laying around like that in the event family is over for a small game with the kiddos in tow.... if something like you shared in the link is lost or broken it's no big deal. Versus little fingers taking something off the table they aren't supposed to and damaging it

I just started recently, sets are becoming too expensive! Actually, I like the old school stuff but I'm not real serious about it.
Singles are even more expensive than sets these days aren't they.

I was mostly just trolling, but I have always bought a few singles here and there, mostly as card cappers.

Yes, they are more expensive, esp when they ship you one chip. I like when people here post multiple chips so you can pick the ones you like. On eBay it's like "x amount for the chip" plus $3-5 for shipping. I don't think anything I've purchased is rare or valuable, but you never know with some of these.

I also find it weird, but apparently people do collect singles.

No clue why
I also became addicted for a while. I've got more than a normal person could need, which is all of them I guess. LMAO!

I got started because I wanted to make displays for my poker room, which I did, but I kept on buying. I had to intervention myself when I started receiving bills comparable in size to buying small sets. It's a bad addiction. It was for me anyways.

I've managed to quit eBay. It was/is a trap for your wallet. Once in a while, I buy one off PCF classifieds, but far and few between. They do make great cappers and I've purchased many easels to make shelves full of them on display.

Yeah, there was definitely a time maybe 15-20 years ago where I would have bought something like that.... back when I collected random casino and gaming stuff. That's a pretty good bang for your buck if you're not a super serious collector and you don't have much money to spend.
