Like the Horseshoe rebranding there will be secondary chips for $25’s and up. So no mint $1, $2.50, or $5’s unless there were some primary chips never put into play. Which is highly unlikely.

The $1’s are THC and really good looking. Should have had someone buy me a few racks when it opened.

What all came of this? I’ve only really been here for the last month maybe two, so steep learning curve about all things chips.

So given all these Jacks for sale I looked for the history or story and read all 19 pages of this thread. Then searched jacks but can only go back ten pages, with the only thing I’ve found being one early sale that resulted in creating the market as it is today. (I searched all vendors and couldn’t find anything either).

While I hope im not opening some closed can of worms, what was the result? Who had these, how did they make it out to the secondary market?

Well jacks rebranded or closed or somthing and @TheChipRoom won the silent auction for the chips n let them loose to us in their sale here. Its one of the vendors. Just that simple lol.

When a casino closes the doors (or rebrands), if the state law doesn't require the destruction of chips, vendors may try to purchase the entire lot, then sell them through their vendor forum.

We're waiting on confirmation of that rack change-over, then hoping a vendor will make them avaialable to us...

Jack's Detroit was a perfect storm. Dan Gilbert bought Greektown Casino and rebranded it Jack's Detroit. New chips were ordered, but before they could be delivered, Gilbert decided to sell. (He owns Greektown in Detroit, 2 Jacks in Ohio -- Cleveland and Cincy -- and another one, a racino in Baltimore, I thought). Because Jack's Detroit would never be used, they became available (and mint chips!)... The hope is Gilbert sells the other two in Ohio and/or the 4th casino and the old racks become available too.

Nothing to do but wait.
