I'm currently trying to make a Tangiers set and @p5woody has been kind enough to help me with the inlay and the many other annoying questions I've had. I would like to get some chip expert opinions on the chip design before I attempt get this set made. Thank you to anyone that is willing to provide some feedback.

Based on the spot patterns, my expert opinion tells me that you are a wealthy man.

In all seriousness, I like each chip individually and the inlay design is nice as well. The first problem that strikes me is that you’ve got 3 chips in a row with purple in them. I’d look to change that.

Your spot progression is slightly odd, but you might not care about that. I think the one that stands out to me the most would be the $25. It’s a big backwards step in progression from the first three.

Also, is this going to be a cash and tourney set. Many people here will frown upon that for game security reasons and tell you to do two separate sets.

The 500 and 1k chips are both purple and yellow. The 25 and 100 both have green and black in them...

Hello dirty stacks.

Try to make chips NOT share colors, especially not more than one color, and especially when they’re next to each other in value. The pink and blue chips share spot colors, but at least the base colors are such that dirty stacks won’t be an issue.

Also, it almost seems like you’re intending to use this set for both cash AND tourney...? This is a huge mistake. There are many discussions on this here already. It’s just not worth incorporating such a security flaw into a custom set. Make two sets, with cash denoms from $.25-$100 and tourney values from T25-T5k. Using different color inlays is one way to help differentiate (white and black).

I like your Quarter through the $500. I don't think the Green $25 and black $100 would clash too much. Maybe try a charcoal spot on the $25 instead of black? as others have mentioned, I think the $1000 chip is way to close in color to the $500, and the $5000 is also too close to the $500.

Maybe go with a canary yellow on the 1k chip, and change the purple to another color. As for the 5k chip, what about a DG tiger base, with blurple and another color that pops.

Also, if you don't have a color sample, do yourself a favor and get one. DG Yellow looks brighter on the screen than IRL (in my opinion). I think the yellows are the toughest to use on screen without that sample.

1. Love the fiver!
2. In for samples.
3. I can't read the small text on the inlay. I *think* the line below Tangiers says "Hotel & Casino". I can't even hazaard a guess at the line above the denomination. If it's too small to read, it may as well not even exist.

Of the 5k designs proposed, I like the white and light blue the best. I also greatly prefer the original $1 to the newly proposed design.

I would want to make this the logo with the denom on the lower half and it would say poker room instead of restaurant & bar.

Yes. I have given some thought to have the tourney set be a Tangiers and the cash set be a Bamboo Lounge set.

Please give this strong consideration. You don't really need that many more chips to make two separate sets... And making a set that can double as a cash set and tourney set is a recipe for disaster. Trust me, the first thing people say is "oh, but the people I play with are friends and trustworthy...". However, chip migration happens even if by accident. You don't want a tourney player having the ability to take a worthless 25 tourney chip and have it show up in a cash game... later. This can happen by accident (by close friends), but merely having this as a potential security leak puts into question the integrity of the game. The mere fact is COULD happen is reason enough for two different sets. Your players will have more confidence when you take steps to ensure game integrity and security.

Folks here are happy to help with chip breakdowns. Let us know how many cash players, the stakes, and possible rebuy info. AND for tourneys, how many players, and how many starting chips, etc... You'll be surprised how much solid breakdown advice is available on this forum. People will suggest the most efficient chip breakdowns to improve game play and maximize your chip budget!

Gorgeous chips! The 500 and the first version of the 5K are both beautiful, but I fear there is a massive dirty stack problem there. I would go with a later iteration of the 5K, probably the white just to be sure you don't have the chip confusion thing.

I will take your advice on that and make separate sets.

I agree with most of the comments. You could just add a 20 to the mix. Quarter through 20 for cash. Ready for tourney?

Depending on what stakes you plan on using the cash game for, you could always just introduce a $20 - and possibly a non-denom to use as a nickle or a cash hundo - and use the same inlay on all of them.

Just beat me up it

This is just ONE example of a local player to a buddy's game. This guy was caught cheating. He was a long time friend, and a co-worker to the host. My buddy hosted this guy for several years (unaware) and would have sworn he was a close "trustworthy" friend... Cheatas gonna cheat...

That's messed up.

I hope he is walking around with no hands...

For the record, that guy never played my game, but I have played with him (in the past). I think the infractions were caught after the fact, after one host noticed a crazy bank shortage of like $170... After the shortage, several players later stepped up to admit they observed Vikram peeking at cards, but didn't say anything at the time (serious WTF?)… Then the host with video surveillance reviewed camera footage and noticed the cheating as well. I don't think Vikram has showed his face since. Unsure the status of his hands...

OK, back to the OP...

I really think that before I could offer serious chip recommendations, you'd have to come back with two separate set ideas. The beauty of this, you can reuse the colors between the sets more freely...

Here are my two Fat Tire sets. You'll notice I used yellow and charcoal/black in each set.

One of the best CPC sets out there too!

That is an amazing set.

Those chips look amazing. Sorry, I'm new to this and just realizing that you can get custom chips made through CPC. - Is there a tool somewhere online to help with the inlay design (IE: something that will generate a round image that can be imported into the CPC "Poker Chip Design Tool", and help you incorporate a number / dollar value)?
