Tangiers and the Quest for a Tina Hybrid Faux Inlay (14 Viewers)

Also, I really like how the simulated spot imperfections turned out. Some people will find it silly given the fact that these are printed ceramics, but it definitely gives them more life and personality. Great work, @Cratty!

I think the organic-shaped rolling edge art makes any slight misalignment disappear. If they were straight edgespots, any tiny difference in alignment would be clearly apparent.
 
Last comment from me here.. just want to thank everyone for helping make this happen. Not just through orders/interest, but everyone in this thread. I view this set as more community created than one person, feels like the chips were truly just birthed out of PCF. Hell, just going through the first couple pages in this thread, or my PMs from the time.. very clear that the majority of the colors/spots/inlay shapes/art were all guided by you folks. I can't get over how much I love the set.. sure it will never be full clay, but as close as you can get w/ Tina IMO.

So thank you.. was fun to be the "vessel" to help carry this one through from a design perspective, and obviously @justincarothers from a production/Tina interface.. too many of you fuckers to list though, so glad the majority of the guidance is all documented publicly here. LOL

Is it my imagination, or does the $1 chip label look like an actual shaped inlay (texture on the blue part of the label that looks similar to the texture on the chip itself)? The shaped faux inlay on the $25 also looks a little "deeper" than the rest of the green label...

Yeah, I think the photo/lighting make the inlay look more textured than it is in reality - the camera seems to highlight some of the printing lines. And I added a slight shadow/outline on all the shaped inlays, the $25 shadow is a bit more noticeable though than some.

It sure looks like there’s a texture on the label that’s similar but not exactly the same as the crosshatching on the chip surface of the $1. And there’s also a little shadow line along the faux inlay border.

That texture does not appear on the green part of the $25 label, but it has the same shadow line along the border of the faux inlay. Is that part of the label artwork (like the faux molds that @Colquhoun did on other designs before, @Cratty?

Edit: Thanks for the answer, Cratty! The texture on the $1 blue part of the label makes it look like a real shaped inlay. Well done!

I may just be speaking for myself — I know we all appreciate what you wrote and how much of a community effort this has been (long before I was even part of it, so I’m not including myself in that by any means) — but you and Justin were really the creative force that brought this whole project to life. Everything else was just words. You guys made it happen. Literally from scratch, from nothing.

The vision, the talent, the imagination, and the dedication to create something so special — that came from the two of you. You say “vessel,” I say heartbeat. The community was part of the journey, sure, but we were all rallying around a project that you and Justin gave life to. Thank you both for leading the way, for shaping something that turned out to be so incredibly special, and for creating something we’re all proud to have been a part of and have as part of our collection.

Truly grateful to have been a small (very, very small!) part of it. A heartfelt thank you, @Cratty and @justincarothers!
