It’s a good thing these sales always happen at a time that doesn’t work for me. I also couldn’t click fast enough to actually get what I wanted.

I remember the original Mark Twain sale from many years ago, what a rush it was to get a new mint set. The competition wasn’t as crazy back then, so one could actually get a full set even if it took some time get it all figured out. Now it’s a matter of seconds.

I got a full set and then some. It just took some negotiating on certain denominations.

These $1’s are definitely great for RHC $1s. But they shouldn’t be mentioned in the same breath as a chip that many would call the GOAT $1, and few would leave out of their top 5.

I've seen the Gulfport $1s via a Google search. Not that impressed. The spots are nice but too small.

Just to be clear, you think this is a good looking chip:

but you’re not impressed with this:

I'm telling you. The chip on the bottom looks beaten up and worn down. The edge stripes are too small and a white chip usually lacks texture anyways. The picture you have might be a lighting issue but it looks grayed-yellowish from cigarette smoke.

The $1 in the first post is at least is bright and playful, the 3 edge spots on the Isle Chips is a big selling point for me. Same thing with the $1 Wicked Spades chip. It is a youthful chip that a person in their 20s would enjoy throwing into a pot when ready for a showdown. The one on the bottom looks like something a 70 year old would toss after he blew cigar smoke on it.

I also am not crazy about that font.

Plus I am 100% blue dollar over white dollar guy anyways. You just have a terminal case of "PAULSON PAULSON PAULSON" in that regard. Circus circus had a pretty snazzy looking $1 I saw earlier so I know it isn't me hating on Paulsons.

I forgave the somewhat boring $1 design on the Caruthersville because A) their other chips are very well done especially their .50s, and B) it was a new set of Paulsons in my price range, and MINT also. I didn't know if I would ever get a chance for mint Paulsons for under $1500 so I struck while the iron was hot.

Your taste is poo

Seriously? I detailed every situation I could find and you revert to talking like a 6 year old? I'm half-tempted to just say "ok boomer" and be done with it.

I have no respect for you right now.
He’s just joking (mostly :bag:). Everyone has their own preference and that’s great cause it keeps chip prices down. If you haven’t seen or handled (clean) Gulfport $1s in person I’d suggest try to. They’re just spectacular!

Sorry not sorry. The inlay on the Isle chip and the 1 in WS isn't written in the most drab shade of green I've ever seen on a chip and the font doesn't look like something out of an 1890s newspaper. Your image is slightly better than the disgusting mustard color center stripe I saw on post 70, but whomever did quality control on that chip in post 73 should be shot. The blue stripe is like 30 to 50% longer than the red one. Who painted that? Stevie Wonder? I find it hard to believe Paulson would let that go to the market.

I could keep going but if you paid good money for that chip than you probably deserve a full refund from whatever college or university you studied at.

If I ever come across one I will give it a shot but 90% of all the chips that call to me are usually the kind a 20-ish year old would look at and say "I gotta get me one of those".

If it is a Paulson, it probably handles extra well. That goes without saying but I tend to only find 5-7% of them to catch my eye anyways. Just as well, my bank account would be begging for mercy if I liked them all.

I see your point. I do find it irritating when the edge paint isn't evenly applied.

fwiw I like the isle $1s a lot.

This may be the worst excuse for a chip I've ever seen in my life. A set of dice chips would be infinitely better.

Its the chipping equivalent of a no ragerts tattoo.

I honestly would rather have Bicycle chips at the store than something that looks like it was left to dry in the deserts of Arizona for 50 years. It doesn't impress me at all when it looks like something an 80 year old guy would design who was stuck in a room watching Hollywood Westerns for the last 25 years and was given five minutes before he got locked back in the room to watch Gary Cooper again.

So this belongs to you.

You mistake me. I don't like used chips. I leave the bike tryres to @RocAFella1

The thing that saves the Isle 1's for me are the edgespots combined with the inlay. It's like a guy said "shit. We got a boring white chip. Let's spice it up some. ".

The Gulfport chips just don't do it for me. If the stripes were even or a bit wider, they would have been good but that inlay puts me to sleep.

But you know what? If you want to spend thousands on a chip set that looks like it was made in the '70s and should have been thrown out along with your uncle Larry's leisure suit, well, fine by me. If it was 1973, I might have liked that Grand Casino chip more while smoking a blunt and listening to Doobie Brothers with my lava lamp. That inlay is even worse than I thought. It doesn't look solid at all. Is that supposed to be a background design or did some guy punch a thousand pinholes in that chip in post 70?
