Dear @SteveHNo96
As millennials, @RocAFella1 @ReallyGoodUsername @Perthmike and I have to say this has nothing to do with age and everything to do with good taste. Good design is not subjective, and you’re wrong, but that’s your opinion that you’re entitled to.
Just gonna leave these here.

Also white $1s are awesome, let’s get back to discussing these kickass chips Jim keeps bringing us.

Can't we just continue distracting people so that my chances of snagging some are higher  :ROFLMAO:

These white $1’s ugly too? What do you think?

Do you want an actual answer or are you trolling?

The two colors for edgespots add a little depth and contrast, and the font didn't overshadow whatever logo the chip has. I still can't figure out the Gulfport logo, I can't even make out what that is -- I had to go on my laptop to make sure that what was coming out of that pot wasn't a pile of turds. The images in 70 and 73 almost look like there is no inlay whatsoever.

I'd like a little more livelihood on it but it's not terrible. I'd probably get that at $1.25 a chip. Of course if you are trolling, then this is the wrong medium for that.

I had to look up what trolling meant on urbandictionary.com. Learn something new everyday. Thank you young man. Sorry I’m a little up there in age... <adjusts reading glasses>

First of all, good design is subjective. Art is like beauty, it is in the eye of the beholder. Clearly some artist likes every chip design or they wouldn't make it. I find chips like the Milano, Desert Heat, and the Outlaw chips as boring, and the Nevada Jack Saloons as too traditional (as someone who owns TWO full sets of Gene's work, it pains me to say that about anything he does), it didn't really do anything to stand out as a chip. The Ravenors are the only really simple design I like, but I like ravens so it makes sense. The Grand Casino looks like something out of the '70s. You may like it but to me it screams of something that someone would play while wondering why The Six Million Dollar Man or Dukes of Hazzard isn't on anymore.

I prefer my chips to pop and they do. 93% of Paulsons designs minimum I pass by. I must be one of the few people that have zero interest in Jack chips. I just find them to not do it for me. I also am going to catch hell for this but I have yet to find a hot stamped chip I like.

But yes, I agree and I personally would like to thank Jim because getting a mint set of Paulsons for any semi-reasonable price would have been practically impossible.

Sorry not sorry. The inlay on the Isle chip and the 1 in WS isn't written in the most drab shade of green I've ever seen on a chip and the font doesn't look like something out of an 1890s newspaper. Your image is slightly better than the disgusting mustard color center stripe I saw on post 70, but whomever did quality control on that chip in post 73 should be shot. The blue stripe is like 30 to 50% longer than the red one. Who painted that? Stevie Wonder? I find it hard to believe Paulson would let that go to the market.

I could keep going but if you paid good money for that chip than you probably deserve a full refund from whatever college or university you studied at.

This is 100% awesome  :ROFLMAO:. New guy takes down favourite $1 chip of entire PCF.

@SteveHNo96 if you could follow this up with your opinions of Casino Aztar MO and other classic chip sets, we might have enough entertainment to get us through lockdown. :D

(But you should probably start a new thread for that, to avoid cluttering this sales thread.)

I own 42 chips of Casino Aztar MO (20 $5 and 22 $25). I actually like those, not enough to pay the exorbitant sum they demand for a set but enough. I hate to disappoint you but the Casino Aztar in Missouri was the Paulson set I tried for when I first came here before I left in 2017.

Seriously, I saw what the GC is going for. They really look like something out of the '70s, and should have been thrown out with the 8-track player that went defective in '81, I would only use those chips as part of a '70s themed party and only if I wanted to show how stupid the decade's fashion was. I wouldn't pay that much to have them delivered by a dozen girls from the Tilted Kilt naked (and you guys have no idea how much I love the girls from the TK). That said, you won't get an entertaining description from me about the Casino Aztar in Missouri because I tried to get a set from them like 4 years ago, or the Horseshoe Casinos because even though I didn't like them when I first saw them, they've grown on me.

Most of the Paulsons I am into but not enough to plunk down $2000+ and shout "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!". The price tag is a major detractor, and the thought that someone would pay enough to get 10 custom sets of chips like Dia De Los Muertos (or even yes, Wicked Spades, and those who don't like those can FO) is frightening, and in the case of GC, you'd still have enough left to buy food for months.

The Tilted Kilt? Why is this not a custom set yet?? @BonScot ?

But seriously, this is awesome but let’s take the discussion outside from this sale thread. I suggest a new thread called Straight Talkin’ with @SteveHNo96 ;)

If you look closely it’s a bit tilted...

This may be the worst excuse for a chip I've ever seen in my life. A set of dice chips would be infinitely better.

Its the chipping equivalent of a no ragerts tattoo.

I can't agree with the comment of dice chips being better. We could build a list of all the ways dice chips are still worse.

However, the No Regerts comment was spot on. I will never look at a set of these chips without thinking of really bad tattoos that people get, just for the sake of having a tattoo.

You think the edgespots are painted on? At least know how these chips are made before bashing them.

The thing that saves the Isle 1's for me are the edgespots combined with the inlay. It's like a guy said "shit. We got a boring white chip. Let's spice it up some. ".

The Gulfport chips just don't do it for me. If the stripes were even or a bit wider, they would have been good but that inlay puts me to sleep.

But you know what? If you want to spend thousands on a chip set that looks like it was made in the '70s and should have been thrown out along with your uncle Larry's leisure suit, well, fine by me. If it was 1973, I might have liked that Grand Casino chip more while smoking a blunt and listening to Doobie Brothers with my lava lamp. That inlay is even worse than I thought. It doesn't look solid at all. Is that supposed to be a background design or did some guy punch a thousand pinholes in that chip in post 70?

The inlay is textured, as is the rest of the chip.

Your opinion is wrong.

Edit: you just bought a RHC set, they will be flea bitten in no time and you won’t have to look far to see what a beaten up chip looks like.

Your chip bashing belongs in another thread instead of crapping all over Jim’s sale thread. Take it elsewhere. You are out of line.

and you don't know slang. Got it.

The point I was making is that the edgespots are not similarly aligned. In fact, only one set of lines in post 73 has the line sizes close to each other in size, that is the right-sided three lines. The other three have extra long blue lines in exchange for extra short orange-red lines.

The inlay is textured, as is the rest of the chip.

Your opinion is wrong.

Apparently the person who designed it has practiced social distancing since the Carter Administration. It is WAY too '70s for me. Very plain Jane, very boring except for the blue and orange-red lines and with the sizes being very uneven, that detracts big time. The GC's are a boring chip for boring people, like some couple in their 50s who live in a white bread neighborhood and watch Grey's anatomy while telling their two kids not to listen to that "gangster rap" for fear of what it will do to them.

Could they have possibly picked a less exciting font? Like I said, it looks like something out of a newspaper from the 1890s.

Edit: you just bought a RHC set, they will be flea bitten in no time and you won’t have to look far to see what a beaten up chip looks like.

Yes I know. Chippers are so worried about their chips that they end up replacing the flooring so their chips don't get damaged. All Paulsons have that risk, THC, IHC, and RHC. But people love them because OMG IT'S AN ACTUAL CASINO CHIP.

One point for Wicked Spades and DDLM: they are ceramic chips and much more durable and since they won't be used nearly as much as most casinos and poker rooms used Chipcos, the design and colors won't wear down like the Chipcos did. They'll still be looking sharp in 20 years.

You really didn't think that one out, did you? Oh right, you're talking about a very boring design for a chip that looks 50 years out of date.

Be thankful for the Trump stimulus. You can finally get paid for what you're good at: nothing.

I'll do one better. I won't talk about it at all. I just don't want to deal with the idiot brigade defending some very snooze worthy chips and then bashing like wildfire because I had the temerity to disagree with them. (Horror!)

Keep in mind, I got dog piled on multiple times.

Smartest thing you have said.
You know when you quote any post of mine, I get notified even when I unwatch, right? In other words, if you want me to leave a thread alone, stop quoting my posts. You won the debate, spiking the ball is unnecessary. Also you're about as funny as a turd in a punch bowl.

Go play with That '70s Set. It'll make you feel better, apparently.

Now back to the Isle chips: I love them but I have to pass because of no fracs and having spent a lot on the last set. :p.
