Anyone know of a tool I can use where guys can sign up to poker night?

We use meetup.com. Unfortunately, it's not free. You can screen applicants who want to join your group, and we don't publish exact locations in our invitations (we message locations to people who RSVP yes). The nice thing is that it tracks waiting lists and automatically goes to the top person on the waitlist of somebody backs out.

Another is whoozin.com. It's free but it doesn't have some of the features of meetup.com.

We used to use anyvite until they started charging. Their site was compromised and I don't know how long it will be a viable option. There's always evite, which I dislike. Lastly, there is always a group email or a group text, but those quickly become unwieldy.

Yeah this is for people I know / friends, but trying to arrange 10 schedules is too much work. People drop, people take a while to respond, this guy cant do that night etc etc. Its a pain.

Would be nice to email out a link to 20 guys, and sign up is on a first come first serve basis. If someone drops, then whoever is on the wait list would move up etc.

Any free tool that does this?

Meetup is the only one with a waitlist feature, but as noted you pay for it. Facebook sounds like your best bet.

We use homepokersystem.com, it has a free option and paid.

Facebook.

I do events for every poker night I host. I see you are hosting in a similar fashion I used to (for 20 years). Me and my buds would say "lets get a game together" and we'd start an email string trying to hash out dates. Well, as my poker evolved, and my desire to play more (than my buddies), caused my invite list to grow. I'm very selective on who gets on my list, but I have close to 80 poker friends I can invite to any given night. On certain nights, I have been known to extend invites to over 100 people (for larger games). But my core group is around 60 players. I'd say I get 4-5 regs that play almost every game, and the rest rotate in when they can make it. I actually enjoy having a few core friends play, and then rotating in folks that I may not have played with for a month/two.

Using facebook is awesome. Allows you to select date/time, details, post photos, message attendees, etc... I just pick a date that works for me, and my friends can sign up (first come). Facebook is nice, as your friends/invitees are already built in.

I'd like to use FB but a bunch of my players don't use Facebook. I like homepokersystem because it sends out invites to players, manages RSVP's, gives detailed info about the game, location, time, etc. as well as tracks points for your league if you do points.

There are a number of online systems for doing this type of thing for sports leagues (TeamSnap, Teamingly, etc). We use TeamSnap for our softball, and it works fine. I can't see why it wouldn't work for poker games.

TY guys. Yeah I think the best way is to have a large group of people that would be interested. That way I could play more often and not have to mess around with individual schedules. Some guys are really disorganized. I like the first come first serve idea.

HPS looks interesting Tony, TY. I'll take a look.

I inherited that site from the person who used to run our league and it's been working well for us. If you want to check out our league, search for poco and look for the poco runner runner league (the one with 57 members) and you can see how ours is setup as well as previous years.

I found something called SignUpGenius. Pretty simple system too. Anyone try it?

I just tinkered with Signupgenius... looks pretty promising, the only problem is the event end date has to be the same as the start date... i.e. can't go past 11:55 PM.

Does anyone know if homepokersystem.com supports a wait list?

I have been using evite but now have the nice problem of too many potential players. I need to implement a wait list. Signupgenius appears to allow me to create two categories... players and wait list. Once the player slot is filled, responders can sign up for wait list... this might work, but I would rather a system that was intended for this purpose.

Signupgenius does not have a wait list, which sucks. You can create a second slot as a workaround, but its not automatic.

I use doodle to pick nights with the regular group for guys. I've also used Pick (itunes)

I use signup genius regularly. I duplicated my signup so you can take a look and see how it works. It's the easiest I've found for me to manage. I get email notifications whenever someone signs up, and the link to my page doesn't change so guys can bookmark it and always see when the next game is scheduled. The wait-list is semi-manual. I ask my guys to keep their signup updated, and if they drop out, I get an email and log in and move a player to the open spot. Anyhow - here is the link.

Wow, that's slick!

Thanks - I find it to work much better than EVite - as most of my guys state the evite emails go right to junk. So I use a google group for my poker group and send three reminder emails. Then they use the link. Pretty smooth for me.

Yeah thats great. I like the idea of being able to bookmark the same event. Do you just keep changing the dates?

Yes - I edit the signup and add new dates. As long as you don't delete the entire event, the URL stays the same. It's pretty handy - the lack of an automatic waiting list is the only negative, but the way I do it works well enough.

I actually emailed the company. They are planning to implement the function at some point but who knows. You should email them!

I've considered it - I also considered signing up for their paid for service, as I would like to add attachments and hide games more than 3 months out. Maybe I will pull the trigger on the subscription and then email them my support request.

Tell them you will subscribe if they implement the wait list lol.

But overall its a pretty neat tool. You can add custom pics.
Yep - and they send out reminder emails a few days before. The mobile site is good too. Most of my guys just sign up on their phones. I set it to require email addresses so if a new player signs up, I can grab his address and add it to my google group. All in all I am very happy with it.

How does the Google group work? Never heard of it.

It's just an email group in G Mail. I have all my players in the group and all I have to do it type "windy crest" in the to field and it emails everyone.

Ah got it. Thought it was something that sent out auto reminders etc. How many reminders can Signupgenius send out? Just one?

I haven't messed with that much - currently mine sends out a reminder 2 days prior, but you can manually send out messages to all in your group.
