In Memory of John Faulhaber (J5 Designs) (1 Viewer)

I never knew the man but I know of his reputation and the legacy he will leave behind in this community alone. Gone too soon, John. You will be missed.

RIP.. amazing legacy.. very sad to hear. Hope his family knows just how much of an impact he made to the hobby, and how his creations will be cherished through generations.

@detroitdad - solidifies the need to get these in play this weekend.

I agree. I felt it Saturday morning.

Fuuuucccckkkk

It had been a few months since I heard from him. He was so very good to me. He did the hot dog sandwich inlay for me, without hesitation, just because he thought it was as hilarious as I do. I have one of the stickers on my car forever because of his dude.

Love the man and our chats. Fuck.

I'm bummed. RIP John. I feel very fortunate to have been able to work with you.

RIP johnny and thank you

Oh no!!!! I had a physical heart pain when I saw this news. J5 was my guy for nearly all of my custom work. He was so patient with me, kind, and wicked creative/talented. One of my favorite J5 creation was his conversion of the Mapes logo into 2 cowgirls. The ponytails and hat tilt, perfection. OMG, I should see if I can dig up some of the iterations before we got on the same page on the cowgirls. lol. Have I mentioned his patience!!??

What a huge loss, a life cut way too short. Such a cool guy, and an end to an era here. Love to his close friends and family.

Damn, heartbreaking. RIP J5.

dude that’s devastating and heartbreaking. He’s old school blue board days and he’s contributed to so many amazing sets. He will be missed dearly

I was able to get the GOAT himself, @Johnny5. Very excited with the final product!
These were a year ago as to my new CPC set. I'm pretty sure it was one of his final jobs, if not the last one. Johnny was so incredibly talented, creative, and just a cool cat. Crushing news, but this a man that will always be cemented in chipping history as one of the best, as a chipper, designer, and most importantly, person. Thanks for everything J5.

Yes! Dude had a great sense of humor and was not only willing to do stuff like this, but happily did so and always saw the vision. I never realized he did that design but that's awesome to now know and hear.

RIP

So sad to hear this news. J5 was one the OG OG's and a hell of a guy. Although I never was able to have him do work for me, not from a lack of trying, the man was always in high demand. Wish we could have made it work but things & timing..... :(

A ton of his designs and creativity will live on in many members chips, cherish them if you were lucky to have him put him mojo on your stuff. His chips were always the most classic looking designs, never put out anything that I didn't like.

RIP he will be missed for sure. Thoughts for his family.

Thanks Kristil (& Gene) @BR Pro Poker for the update.

This is terrible news. John was my goto whenever I needed anything. His work was always on time and creative. He never had a bad thing to say about anyone. 50 years old is way too young. If there is a poker chip hall of fame he needs to be in it.

Guess who made my logo?

This is very sad news indeed. John was the firrst and only designer I worked with.
He helped me design several sets along with associated buttons and cut cards.
John was always open to my (unartistic) ideas and was easy to work with.

Not a HoF set, but this is my pride and joy that did make to the PCF calendar (June 2022)

Even though we never worked together officially, he had always been kind and generous whenever I reached out. It goes without saying that he was an extremely talented designer but he was equally a very cool dude.

I wish his family and friends well.

This one hurts. ALOT. I had the great privilege to work with J5 on a very special group buy project over 10 years ago. We spend many weeks going back and for on designs and updates to a Matsui President Casino on the Admiral Plaque design. I believe 18 people we involved in the GB. As a special momento for the GB J5 signed and numbered the Matsui Plaque proof for all involved in the GB. RIP My Friend , Heart Broken...
