I'm sure many here were aware that John Faulhaber (also known here as Johnny, Johnny Five or J5) had been away from the forum for quite some time. It is with great sadness that I share the news of his passing. He told us that he'd been battling health issues earlier this year, and today it was brought to my attention that he was still absent from the forum. A google search brought up his obituary, which is linked below.

John created countless designs for this community and I'm sure there are many members who can share their fond memories of him & his work. I worked with him several times over the years, he was always extremely kind and a pleasure to work with. I loved seeing the designs he came up with - most recently, he contributed his Tribal Mask design as a part of our chip design contest (an instant winner, of course). He was truly talented and will be missed greatly by the community. Our sincerest condolences go out to his friends & family.

RIP to the Legend. Nothing, but positive every time I talked to him.
Same, I reached out to him a few years ago asking for some feedback and advice on some chip designs I had been working on, and we had a nice conversation. He was very encouraging to a self-taught amateur such as myself. I'd been talking to a few members recently about a design he made, so he'd already been on my mind. Very sad news today.

Absolutely, utterly crushing news.

John was one of the O.G.'s, all the way back to ChipTalk. His design work was always sought out and well loved once "put to chip."

He will be missed by many chippers here. I'm sorry I never had the chance to meet him in person.

R.I.P.

(Might I propose we rename the CPC design tool "The John Faulhaber Memorial Chip Design Tool"? He did have a hand in it's creation, and nearly every CPC chip design can point to it as an important part of that process. Seems fitting.)

This is terrible news.

I traded some emails with him earlier this year about a label project I was working on. He mentioned he had some health issues and would have to pass on the project. I had no idea it was so serious.

We worked on other designs throughout the years - he was always easy to work with and his designs were top notch.

What a loss.

RIP, John.

I worked with John regarding Le Boudoir design a couple years ago he was a great guy, very kind and talented. I was afraid to receive this information because he hadn't answered me in months, like many others here... We're losing a real enthusiast who helped so many chippers here and produced magnificent designs...
I'm really sad to hear this news. My condolences to his family.

I didn't know him but proud to have a set of le noirs. I can see he leaves behind a huge legacy here in this community. May he rest in peace

Great person.. very passionate about his work. Will be missed.

I'm sure MP was there to greet you and discuss his new ideas.

I don’t think I ever really had a chance to exchange messages with him but that’s very sad to hear. I’ve seen many of his designs over the last few years I’ve been on this forum and they’ve always been a pleasure to look at. Very talented individual…

He helped me with some ideas and always has time for feedback and help. I always looked up to him as a designer as he was one of the best!

He will be missed and may he Rest in peace while his impact and designs will live on for eternity.
