I just finished my IG tournament build. I think. Probably not….

Using @BGinGA & @Ben8257 and many others as my guides, here’s where I’ve landed on my chip set after a solid 48hrs in the classifieds & PMs :wtf:

T100-base

8 player freeze out, no adding, nada.

T30,000 Starting stack

15/5/11/3

—MY SET— —GUIDE—

—120 ✅— —120 x T100–

—40 ✅— —40 x T500—

—100 ✅— —90 x T1000— (includes 2x for T100 color-up) [10,000 xtra, used for bonuses]

—40 ✅— —30 x T5000— (includes 6x for T100/T500 color-ups) [50,000 xtra]

—5 ✅— —5 x T25000— [Final heads up, fun chips, because PCF…]

Suggestions? Maybe a T35K 15/5/11/4 starting stack to get more chips on the table? I have the 25Ks to cover it. What say you PCF?

Also, I’m still deciding on my blind structure, small increases with 20min levels, for a nice and smooth 5-6hr game. Still chewing on that one. Plus when to color up, best and most smooth math for it all, etc.

Please throw brain juice at me and mix some numbers around for blinds/color ups if you’d like!

I’d go with 20 mins and add a couple levels to avoid the doubling. 100/200, 200/300, 200/400, 300/600, 400/800, 500/1000, 600/1200, 800/1600. Color up 100s and 500s. 1/2, 2/3, 2/4, 3/6, 4/8, 5/10, 6/12. That would be 15 levels at 20 mins each for 5 hours not including breaks. Slower jumps in the beginning and no doubling of big blinds at all.

Thanks you! Great input

Great input from @BGinGA I wanted to share.

“In response to your recent thread, I'd add a few levels to improve consistency (falls into b class above)

100 100 (optional, but it does double your starting # of big blinds if wanting to play deeper)

100 200
100 300
200 400
300 600
400 800
600 1200
800 1600
remove T100s
1000 2000
1500 3000
2000 4000
3000 6000
4000 8000
6000 12000
8000 16000
remove T500s & T1000s
10k 20k
15k 30k
20k 40k
30k 60k
40k 80k
60k 120k
80k 160k
remove T5000s
100k 200k
etc.

Nothing wrong with using 22-, 23-, or 24-minute blind levels, if that's what is needed to fit your desired time frame. 15-, 20-, 25-, and 30-minute levels are all just artificial constraints, not some "magic number" interval philosophy.”

That looks solid too. Lots of structures skip 500/1000 and I don’t like that but it doesn’t make it wrong by any means, just different opinions. I also greatly prefer 200/300 over 100/300.

The main thing you want to really do is pick a structure, play a couple games, and adjust it to make it your own. Get input from your players, find what works for your group.

I changed it to 200/300 as well.

Will definitely let it buffer out with the first table and adjust it as it goes.

Merging all input, and I’ll add breaks as the group decides. Some are old, some as young as 27, gonna have to find the sweet spot.

5hr table, plus breaks. So about 5.5ish

You’re likely never going to need to color up the 1k chips so you might as well remove the 500s at the same time as the 100s or slightly after you won’t need them after the 2k/4k level. You could do them at the same time as the 100s and just go 1k/2k, 2k/3k, 2k/4k. If you did it that way you could have a break at the 2 hour mark, and then a break with color ups after another 2 hours. Instead of waiting 3 hours for a break.

Edit: didn’t realize you dropped to 18 minutes so it wouldn’t be exactly 2 and 4 hours but still the same logic I think.

My groups likes to have as many chips as possible, so I try to not color up too fast.

They get stack shock pretty quick.

I honestly think some would prefer to have a ton of 100s and just stay there all tournament  :ROFLMAO:

Fair enough. Do what your group likes! If it becomes an issue make the switch. The joy of home games! It took a long time to perfect my structure but we’ve been using it for like 20 years now and everyone is good with it.

That’s what I’m trying to get to! That’s amazing, and being one year in with hosting a monthly game, I’ve grown to truly appreciate the host levels on here. Many thanks for helping!

My older guys start to struggle after about 4 hours. Accordingly, our tourneys are designed to run between 4-5 hours, depending on attendance. I only take my annual championship on a longer structure.

That’s a good point. I can make all tournaments 4’ish hrs, and make my EOY final Championship table 6hrs.

I’ve decided that since my starting stack has minimal 500s, and much more 1Ks - your way is better.

Plus, it graduates the table to all 43MM chips, which is kinda cool I think.

great chips and good looking stacks. The black and purple IG always look like they clash in pics to me but it’s probably just the pictures not doing them justice.
