Im talking about the green box with the setup (Angel Poker) or even Club Poker, both of which are out of stock on Amazon.co.jp. Anyone know what stores in Japan or any websites that stock these?

Local pickup at Yodobashi (online order) - limit one per order. I didn’t have a chance to when I was there last week but believe this is the only way. Stores carry some Angel cards but they are the far inferior ones individually sold in clear hard cases.

I’ve been checking since I posted this thread 9/28 and I don’t think they were ever restocked on Yodobashi or Amazon.co.jp… I ordered some of the other Angel decks off Amazon, but I guess I will keep checking these. Would be funny if these become unobtanium and I missed it by like a week.

I was able to buy 3 setups early this year via Amazon Japan. I have visited Japan twice this year and could not find these in either Bic or Yodobashi.

I was only able to buy the more elusive Club Poker (which are of a different quality than the regular green box cards) just once, several years ago in a specialty toy store in the Ginza district of Tokyo.

I hope these come back. Been wanting to try awhile and now wondering if I snoozed too long and they’ll not be available again.

Here’s to hoping. I ordered a pack of Angel Texas hold’em which are allegedly the same as the green box but obviously just a single deck. Will use them to evaluate if I want to bother with trying to get the setup or not.

It’s pretty frustrating how difficult it is to acquire nice cards… maybe I’m back to trying to figure out how to prolong KEMs lifespan lol.

To my knowledge and experience, the single green deck of Angel Texas Hold em is comparable, perhaps slightly better than the singleton options they offer in blue/red/yellow. They are a quality pvc card and in the range of their green box "Club Poker" set ups (the only versions I've ever found that have a jumbo index and extremely difficult to acquire), but the green box "Angel Poker" set ups that were for sale on Amazon are the only ones I've ever found that are truly acetate and as close to Kem in terms of feel and quality.

The post I was looking at said that Angel Texas Hold'em is PVC, I think where it might have been wrong is that it claimed that the green Angel Poker setups are also PVC. I *think* consensus is that the latter is acetate. Either way when I get the Texas Hold'em in hand I should be able to tell if they're PVC or at least satisfactory in terms of a KEM substitute or not.

The Aristo's are the closest to KEM stock of all the cards I handled (but not the diva issues)

Never have had or was very interested in Aristo's, but the Angel Poker labeled cards are as close to KEM in any bridge size card that I've ever had ( and so far, without the bowing issues). If they came in a blackjack or jumbo index, they'd be nearly perfect imo.

FYI, Aristo cards are made in Angel stock...

This is basically where I am. I LOVE the feel of the KEM pack I have, but they're slightly bowed. Best cards to have in your hand.

I just want that feel but without the finicky issues. I like my Desjgn, and (no hate please) actually my Faded Spade quite a bit ( I think they're the 2.0s). But neither comes close to the feel of a KEM deck. Not even in the ballpark.

Yet I'm afraid to play with the KEMs cuz they'll bend and bow and there is no way I'll pay whatever their asking price is now for a replacement deck.... So I feel like the deck I have is my only one. Wanna use them but don't wanna "ruin" them at the same time.

I think I'm down to these Angels in acetate or the Modiano Platinums. To my knowledge none of the other acetate cards are made anymore (Gemaco Superflex... I think maybe Cartamundi had one).

https://www.ebay.com/itm/153143241391 Buy these, check my other thread about KEM storage (apply pressure, maintain 30% humidity). We unfortunately can’t get everything we want in life, so we have to either accept that KEMs are finicky and might bow and put up with the expense, or yeah try something else like Modiano platinums.

Oh I have to point out with that eBay link: the seller only makes a few available for sale. I have no idea how many they truly have left, but don’t get tricked into thinking that there’s only 4 KEM setups that you can buy at $18 each.

Very tempting....
