I accidentally rolled a teriyaki meatball or two across it during my last game....

I looked it up. Apparently this is not an acceptable way to "call".

I only have one table and its covered most of the time its not in use. I still wipe down the rail before and after every game with hot water and a rag. I use one of those mini shark vaccuum cleaners and vaccuum the felt before every use.

With bottles of Bourbon and Scotch I presume.

Any recommendations for cleaning @T_Chan gaming suede? I accidentally rolled a teriyaki meatball or two across it during my last game....

I took a spray carpet cleaner to it and then a wet towel with warm water and then scrubbed with a dry towel. Seemed to get most of the stains out but now it's fairly obvious which parts have been cleaned. I felt like I didn't want to scrub the table too hard as to avoid stretching out the cloth.

I think I have the older version of gaming suede that Tony offered.

I've never used any cleaning agent. Just water with a rag to gently rub the spot. Not all stains will come out though.

Yeah this stuff wasn't coming out without some cleaner. I'm considering taking a handheld carpet cleaner to the surface... Something like you might use to clean a couch.

Liquids tend to come out easier, but foods not so much. Chocolate seems to be a horrible culprit.

My situation is slightly unusual since I built both of my surfaces from an outdoor fabric not typically used for poker tables. I’m extremely happy with it, especially with the ease of cleaning.

This being waterproof outdoor fabric, either the day after a game (or the morning before, when setting back up) I wet down two microfiber cloths with warm water, wring the out so they are just damp, and simply brush the surfaces of each table with a sort of circular motion. I usually go over each table twice, once for each side of the cloths, in opposite directions.

Because this happens twice a month, it’s rare for the microfiber cloths to show much visible dirt, but sometimes when rinsing them out the water is a little darker. They function mainly to remove lint, hairs, etc. These either get brushed off the table or cling to the microfiber. Sometimes I will have to pick small bits of lint off manually.

The surfaces are typically dry (just through evaporation) within 15-20 minutes, but I make a point of not setting any chips down on it for an hour or so to make sure. On just a handful of occasions I’ve vacuumed the surface with a brush attachment if there was more than the usual debris.

If there seemed to be a more serious dirt problem, I might soak the microfiber cloths in warm water with a little bit of gentle cleaning solution mixed in, such as Meyer’s Clean Day. But I would then re-wipe it with just warm water so as not to leave any residue behind.

Aaaand I’m just reflecting on how much I must love poker to not just do the above, but to type out a ridiculously detailed post about removing lint.

P.S. Previously I had two very-nicely custom built tables with a sort of faux suede for both the “felt” and the rail. I never used any water on this, just vacuumed with an attachment and picked off anything left behind. It wasn’t waterproof, though, and had a few stains.

I would say that this has to be binding. Otherwise, it opens the door to Meatball Angles.
