This thread is for all poker chip collectors. I've only ever bought poker chips once, so I'm not really a collector...yet.

How often do you buy new poker chips? Every day? Every week? Every month?

When my addiction was in full force -- probably 3 to 4 times a year. Mind you these were fairly large sets, nice chips and I always wanted to buy more. Fortunately I've gotten beyond those days (they are expensive). :)

I can see the temptation to always wanting to buy more chips, because some of them look so cool, and they'll remain valuable if you keep them in good condition.

Seems like every time I think I'm satisfied with my sets a new set catches my eye. I have had, traded, sold and traded up an uncountable number of sets lol. Jim at Thechiproom is like a crack dealer. He keeps me coming back for more!

SO true -- says it all right there.

This must be the the least-intrusive addiction ever, lol. But really, I only buy anything or consider buying anything when they catch my eye. I saw a few at a flea market in California when I was visiting family a while back, and it took me an hour walking though the whole place trying to decide whether or not I wanted to actually buy them. I'm kind of indecisive when it comes to larger purchases. By the time I had decided to buy them, they were gone anyway. Oh well.

It really depends on what is going on. I have bought 3 racks in the last week. However it is with a specific purpose and they are chips that I have been waiting to become available for a while now so I had to jump at the chance. Before that, I bought a ton of Benny's chips, but before that it had been a long friggin time. I am getting to a point where I am pretty content with the chips I have now and don't really anticipate adding many more. In fact I will start selling some of the stuff that no longer fits in my colleciton.

I bought my first paulson set september 2012 only and have sense got 1500 St. Joes, 2000 worlds, 600 paulson pharaohs, custom asm's, ordered 800 bcc grand card rooms, I'm participating in a group buy on another site for 4600 china clay replica chips. Plus just today paid for 400 paulson grand card rooms (and I am looking for more to add on to it if anyone wants to part with some) I really have a bad case of oct.

I bought once a very expensive poker chip set. And I like it very much, so I won't buy another one any sooner.

I am just like bauss. I have only bought one set so far. Part of my problem with buying more would be storage space. I have no idea where I would keep another set! I could probably find somewhere to bury them but there does not seem much point buying them just to "have" them somewhere semi-inaccessible. The set I have is sufficient for our games but I certainly want to buy more in the future.

My next set will be custom ASMs. Have not purchased in over a year. Have Pharoah's Club cash set, PCR deepstack tourney set, two different ceramic sets (tourney/micro cash), a HU set of Paulson's, a Paulson cash set, and a 600 pc set of Paulson roulettes for the Missus. Would love to find a rack Silver City dimes for my Paulson set.

Well in the past 5 days I've bought about 250 TR King large crown chips, 160 TR King small crown chips, 205 Terrible's Mark Twain secondary $5s, 255 Terrible's Mark Twain secondary 25s, and paid for my 500 chip MD-50 order from ASM.

1370 chips.

I debated buying more

3000 to 5000 a year. Everything I like. Selling around 1000 - 2000 a year. Everything I don't like anymore...

I only buy new poker chips if I feel I really need them. I am not a big spender when it comes to my finances in general anyway. I like to buy a set of chips, take good care of them and use them for as long as I can.

I'm a recent addict so my first purchase was a few weeks ago. I bought 700 Milano's for a tournament set. Then as of 2 days ago I bought 400 Royal Yaks but that was only 2 denominations so I've got to buy another 200 to 300 to get the other denomination I need so they can be my cash game set. Other then that no other real plans to buy more anytime soon other then when I head to Vegas in November for Sema. I plan to spend my nights going to each casino collecting chips from them. :)

I didn't even think of buying more chips until I discovered these chip sites a year ago. I have a fairly large set of 11.5g slugged laser chips, and was happy.

Now I have 700 Yaks for an additional tourney set, and will probably expand that to 1000 to allow for more players...I seem to change my mind hourly. If the chips weren't so darn nice, it'd be a lot easier to resist. :) At least the 11.5g sluggos will serve as a cash set if a game ever breaks out during a tourney.

I'm also drowning in a sea of chip samples, and am contemplating a solid clay set. So far, I've discovered that anything less than a 9.5-10g chip is too light for my liking, so that takes most ASM and BCC chips off the table (whew!). However, if a Paulson GCR set comes up, my wallet is doomed.

And don't get me started on cards...
