I was giving this some thought, 2, 4, 6, I was interested in opinions, when using a larger amount of 1000's in the starting stack.

This is what I was thinking
25 x 8
100 x 8
500 x 4
1000 x 12

The poll is flawed, unless you are only considering stacks with 8x each of T25 and T100 chips. My standard T10K stack is 12/12/5/6, and adding extra T1000 and/or T5000 chips for anything bigger.

For an 8x composition stack, your 8/8/4/12 example is fine, especially when more than one table. Nothing wrong with 8/8/6/11 or 8/8/6/6, however.

Fewer than 4x can sometimes lead to excessive change-making shortages. Eight 500s are never 'needed'.

Whenever figuring a break down for a tournament set I always plan on 12-12-5-6 x # number of players I want the set for plus extra big chips for coloring up and if bigger starting stacks will used.

This as well. 12/12/5/6/1. 25/100/500/1000/5000

most of my stuff is flawed ;), but very much appreciate the feedback

12-12-7-5-(2) for us
We used to do that vs 12/12/5/6, but eventually found that more T1000s (and fewer T500s) were more useful in the later blind levels of the tournament. How many players with those stacks?.

Definitely prefer 5 over here.

12-12-5-6-1 for three 12 stacks(one dirty)

I like three equal starting stacks as well so I set up a t10k set for a 12-12-7-5 start.

I also have a set up for a t2500 with three stacks of 10. Starting stack is 10-10-7-3 (5,25,100,500).

And the last stack is dirty in both.

That's exactly why I did it, too..... and rectified the problem when switching to 12/12/5/6 by adding a bounty chip to maintain balance in the universe. :D

I never thought of that. I like that idea.

Anywhere from 10 to 18. Usually 10, unfortunately.

Instead of bounty we use a 5000 chip. It's your rebuy/addon. It's not in play in the first hour unless you get felted, and then it's your half rebuy and signal to quit playing like a donkey. If you go the full hour without busting it becomes live and it's your add on.

Frees the host up from having to do rebuys, acts as a safety net without letting you just act like a donkey all night long with replenished stacks, and rewards you for good play during the first hour if you don't go out. So it's worked really well for us.

25 X 12
100 X 12
500 X 3
1000 X 7

(10k starting stack). Not had any "not enough 500s" complaints yet...

If using 8 for the lower denoms with T1Ks: 4 (8/8/4/X)

If using 12 for the lower denoms with T1Ks: 5 (12/12/5/X)

If using 8 for the lower denoms with T2Ks: 10 (8/8/10/X)

If using 12 for the lower denoms with T2Ks: 9 (12/12/9/X)
