A couple friends and I were thinking of heading to vegas for a vacation and also do some poker tournaments. Or at least I want to do some poker tournaments lol. I was looking at this upswing link for some of them to go to: https://upswingpoker.com/best-poker-tournaments-in-las-vegas/, has anyone tried playing them and if so, what was the experience like? Is it possible to beat the ~15-25% rake? How do the players play, and what would think are some nice player pool exploits?

I don't know how the schedules have been impacted, but that is a pretty good list. My general recommendation is to stick to the better rooms on the strip (Venetian/Aria/Bellagio/etc) or go to the The Orleans. Generally, its best to avoid tournaments with buy-ins under $100 because the structure is usually terrible and its just a shovefest. You can check websites like Cardplayer (https://www.cardplayer.com/poker-tournaments/monthly/2021/06) to see when various tournament series are scheduled, those will have better structure and will have decent offerings in the $150-$500 buy-in range. If you go out there in the late Summer/early Fall you'll have plenty of options due to the WSOP.

Thanks for the response. How does the WSOP change things? Will there be Satellites?

Basically every casino will know that poker players are in town, so they will expand their offerings. Wynn/Venetian/Aria/Orleans will have their own smaller events, and the Rio will have a bunch of satellites and other daily tournaments
