My own stupid opinions:

1) I'd prefer no bananas. Even for me, that's a little over the top.
2) No "traditional" edge spots. First, you would pay a lot extra for edge alignment on both sides. Second, it's trying too hard to be a compression clay.
3) Play to the strengths of ceramics: rolling edge artwork, full face printing, different artwork possible on both sides at the same cost.

Re point 3: you mean like Mapes one one side and ACF on the other?

Great feedback - thanks!

Where I'm coming from:
- Like the Mapes/TRK bright colours
- Like the Mapes black/white label
- Like the tri-moon edge spots and the 4-colour spots on the 1
- Big fan of ceramics, not a big fan of clays (or rather my wallet is not a bit fan of clays)
- Don't have a set of hybrids
- Like something playful
- Don't have a set of 43mm chips
- Already have several "stock" ceramics (Muertos, Royal Yak, Dirty Drew, Radisson)

So my idea is to get these on 43mm hybrids from sunfly. I need a cash set that's unique and can handle micro games. I also want something that looks old-school casino which it why I went with the Mapes theme.

I've resized these for the 43mm hybrid/25mm label.

I agree with @BGinGA. Downsize them, and maybe invert them? I kind of dig the overall idea. Quirky!

No offense, but the bananas need professional help.

No offense but it has become less a tribute and more a mockery...in my humble opinion.

Love the concept, inaly and color scheme, but not a fan of the bananas. I would stick with a simple traditional mold, or nothing at all.

I'd do whatever the hell you want. Your money. But since you're sharing if you like the bananas go for it. I wonder if an opaque or graduated color would look better. I always feel pretend molding is odd.

Also if someone busts out they should be forced to sing "Yes we have no bananas today..."

I'm expecting to see Apeshit Poker League artwork posted soon.

I agree but what will I do at work if not messing with designs?

I'll start working on that now!

I wanted to see what it would look like with fake scrowns:

I'm usually highly against desing-by-committee, so take this critique as something to consider, nothing more:

The bananas, though in low contrast in previous iterations, probably can coexist with the "house mold" copy - the question is how do you subtly roll in that detail with enough clarity so as not to create confusion in the "mold" lettering?

This looks good! Could you replace the crowns with small banana silhouettes? Also, move the ape/A guy a little left and add “hit” to the end, so you get “Apeshit Hotel”

Sorry if my criticism was overly harsh. Everything you have come up with thus far is really good. If you're not a clay enthusiast then I agree with hybrids since you can get everything you want. I think the small crown looks better than the bananas.

I wouldn't worry too much about what we have to say. Make the set what you want them to be.

Having said that...I think you should take another stab with the bananas faux mold I liked where that was headed. Perhaps you can find a banana that matches the simplicity of the crown mold. I also like the Casino Apes faux mold.

Put me down for a sample set of the final product, wherever it lands.

Always loved the Mapes label and the chip colors/spots.
I think if I had to do a custom set around a tribute, it would be this one (similar to the Mike's Casino tribute set).

Mind expanding on what you mean by this? I've got my eye on a set of customs.

CPC doesn’t do tri-moons (yet? Fingers crossed!). Their 3916 spots are the closest. Also, CPC doesn’t offer those little 1/4” spots, like on the Mapes $1. So they can’t quite recreate the bright colors and spots of the Mapes.

Were the tri-moons secondary chips or just a replacement set from the original casino chip set?

Ah, makes sense. Thanks!

@Darson have you finally produced this set ? If so, can you share pics of the final product ?
