If I get the chips sent to a friend in Canada, will there be a sales tax? If so, how much?
Trying to avoid the Norwegian 25%(!) sales tax...

Only 100 fracs per order...who saw that coming...o_O
It's just the nature of casino chip breakdowns, as @BearMetal acknoledged he saw it coming -- casinos have TONS of $1s, $5s, and $25s, and even $100 chips that they use in EVERY table game and in the Poker room. My (albeit limited) understanding is the 25 cent chips are only used in 1 or 2 table games, (like maybe PaiGow poker and/or Baccarrat) and that is just to pay the fee for winning a small bet, or something like that.

I know it's Jim's policy/preference to not post the total numbers of chips until after the sale is complete but that's his choice. It's just the nature of casino chips that casinos have very, very, few fracs compared to the number of $1, $5, $25, and $100 chips. The breakdowns of casino chips do not align well with the needs of many PCFers looking to build lower stakes poker sets with quarters.

Frac limits make this a hard set to build... Saw it coming, but still sucks.
But impossible % caps to achieve, at least in the 1st hour.
Wow - so the odds of getting a rack of fracs outside of buying 200 chips is 0%?
:(
That really changes my approach to this sale
($1 chips cannot exceed 40% of your total order)
($5 chips cannot exceed 40% of your total order)
($25 Chips cannot exceed 30% of your total order)
($100 chips cannot exceed 20% of your total order)
That's 130% -- caps should be easily filled with $1s, $5s, and $25s and/or $100 chips. The sale will likely not run out of these denominations early.

Does it make building a lower stakes set harder, sure, but there are many feasible options/choices to build a smaller set from these, if people need a rack or more of $0.25 chips for their set.

One tip I can share from being in past Chiproom sales is to be prepared that the denoms of 25 cents, $2.50, $500 and higher will likely sell out early. But consider it a pleasant surprise if some of these denoms are still available when you add them to your cart to checkout. But if not, plan to build your set from mainly $1s, $5s, and $25s and/or $100s.

Here are some suggestions for options/choices for fracs/$0.25 chips:
  • buy $25 chips to use as $0.25 cent chips. Optionally relabel. Also, optionally buy $100 chips to relabel as $20 chips for lower stakes cash games.
  • buy $100 chips to use/relabel as $0.25 cent chips or as $20 chips
  • buy $1s, $5s, and smaller quantities of $25s & $100s to fill the quotas, and find another RHC or THC chip to use or relabel as $0.25 chips. There are plenty of solid chips in existence and for sale by PCF members that can be used as a fractional chip.

Yeah, I've switched my strategy to relabel I think...

Good info but I was being sarcastic. I've been saying for a while that people won't be able to get 2 and 3 racks of the fracs or high denoms

Yeah, I didn't catch the intended sarcasm and didn't check out or remember your past posts. But I'll consider your and my posts a public service to others who might have otherwise gotten their hopes up, and then been dissapointed during the sale when "no inventory left" message will undoubtedly pop up for the fracs.

So if you're just playing the caps on %'s, on a set of 2000 your maximums are...
100x $0.25
100x $2.50
600x $25
400x $100
200x $500
100x $1000
40x $5000
And then split the remaining 460 amongst $1's and $5's.

New here and trying to get a feel for how the sale works so I can plan accordingly. When ordering within the first hour, if you have chips in your cart is it safe to assume they are allocated to your order? Can you get a sold out notice after you fill your cart and try to make the final payment? Which would require you to adjust your cart again?

Chips aren't yours until you complete the transaction, so if you take too long filling the cart you may find some denoms sold out (happens a lot).

this is the worst part

you setyour cart up accordingly and then one denom is sold out, and throws everything out.
by the time you alter the quantities, other stuff is sold out and you miss out completely...

Gentlemen and ladies, I shall be bowing out for this part of the sale, so there's one less chipper to compete with. Good luck to all, and be nice! I shall return sometime Sunday afternoon to witness the aftermath of the carnage.
My Ysabels would be jealous. I don't think my numbers are working here...

If anyone is looking to pickup a cash game set and wouldn't mind adding on to my order to help hit some quotas PM me. I'm not interested in the quarters, so you could take the full quota on those.

Edit: Have had an abundance of PMs, good at this point unless there is someone not looking for any of the limited chips, so just $1-$100, essentially buying our extras to hit 2000 chips.

Hi Jim, this sale is exactly what I am looking for. I have a question about the sets, what denominations does this include? Also what would be the cost of shipping 500 or 1000 chips to London?

I *might* try for small tourney set using the used chips after the first hour but I'm not going to hold my breath. I'd rather save the money for car parts :D

Are the percentages (40%, 5%) volume percentages or cost percentages?

EDIT: nvm, figured it out. So, one can't buy just one or two denoms. Interesting.

I work Sundays, so if anyone would like to discuss joining forces. PM me.
(Transparency. Really only looking for upper denoms, but willing to help facilitate)
Thank you very much in advance chip fam :cool

@TheChipRoom - My PayPal address is in the UK, if I'm lucky enough to pick up some chips, can I put a comment in the PP order (or PM?) with an NYC shipping address? Or do you need to send to the 'primary' address? Thanks :cool
