Just wondering if anyone knows what happened to the HomePokerTourney.com guy. It seems like he hasn't uploaded anything to his YouTube account in almost 5 years, and his site has been static for ages - although his forums still see some sporadic activity.

Does anyone know him? What's his story? Is he a member here? I guess I'm more curious than anything... I've visited his site numerous times over the years, but really have no idea who he is.

UPDATE: Based on information posted by @MrWitti below, it appears that the owner of HomePokerTourney has passed on.

I had some communication with him a few years ago. Nice guy, (He once offered to host the Blue Wall for free when the owner of that site was having problems.)

I don't believe he is a member here. Not sure what happened.

That is sad. Apart from CT, HPT was one of the first sites I saw that got me into poker.

Home Poker Tourney was the first Poker site that I was introduced to by a friend. It was a guiding light for me. Everything from how to buy chips, organize a tournament, acquire prizes, run leagues, and seek out other players through meet-ups and the like. Thankfully, it introduced me to chipping. Between HPT, CT, and the PCF, they are my poker and chipping pillars. All three sites are at the top of my favourites list to this day.

I'm saddened to hear that the Nut'n has passed. He'll never know the impact that his passion had on people like myself and others. From time to time I've wondered what was going on with HPT and why it wasn't stay up to the trends of today. Now I know ...

Rest easy Nut'n. As you sit at the Big Table, know that your Aces will hold up. Thanks for inspiring many people from around the world and sharing your passion, insight, and wisdom will all of us.

You are missed my brother!

you can read details there in the off-topic section. Unfortunately nutn passed away. His nephew is looking to keep the site up and running.

I am sorry to hear of his passing - his site was is a priceless resource that I've visited (and continue to visit) regularly. I've updated the OP accordingly to inform the PCF community.

HPT was my first foray into an online community of any type. I met a few great guys there like @WedgeRock , @mike32 , @Azcat and @Jambine . A few of us still check the site weekly and make the occasional post.

The owner of the site, Nutn passed away a few months ago. His Nephew saw that a few of us still posted on occasion. He reached out to me and said that he was going to try and keep the site alive. There have been some upgrades/downgrades, crashes, ect.... recently and the site isn't working like it used to. As long as the site is still accessible I'll keep checking in from time to time.

I spent hours upon hours reading his reviews of chips, and cards, following links to vendors to see what chips I could buy.

It was a great site for sure, because of it I went right from dice chips to Paulson Pharoah's.

I wish his nephew good luck if he does try to keep the site going.

Thanks for posting this. I thought there were probably a lot of folks here who were members at HPT. I am a moderator there and unsure if it was appropriate to start a thread here.

His nephews will try to keep the site open, but they are not tech guys, so I'm sure it's a bit overwhelming.

Barry died in a motorcycle wreck. The man loved to ride, so I hope that is some small consolation.

RIP Barry

I think Alex and his brother have good intentions, but like Ben said, I think they are finding it overwhelming. Nutn had that desgin of the site custom made for him and as a result, it didn't accept the upgrades to the software flawlessly.

I think Nutn had been putting off the upgrade because of the amount of work involved. Then when he passed, Alex inherited the situation. I haven't seen Alex around much lately, but I know he'd appreciate seeing words of how well respected his uncle was.

If you have a minute and you're already a member over there, go over to the site and leave a comment about Barry on the thread JSD referenced (It Is With Great Sadness...Apr 19, 2017). Maybe it'll be enough to motivate Alex to ramp it back up.

I will go leave a comment.

Seriously... that site got me hooked on poker and poker chips before I knew anything about CT or PCF. I used to watch, and watch, and rewatch so many of his chip destruction videos, and reread all of his chip review pages. Hell... my first tourney structure was copied straight from this PDF. And I read his starting stack page so many damned times over the years, that it's basically committed to memory. :)

I'd be happy to let his family know how much he's helped me getting my home games up and running - it's the least I can do!!!! (y)

Sad news indeed.
Like many others I probably clicked on every link he had posted for everything from chip reviews to poker awards etc. I also don't know if I would have ever tried to make my first poker table if not for the links to the many great instructions on there.

Very sad news indeed.:(
I used a lot of information on his forum to get my home game up and running (from blind structures, table and equipment reviews, and many other useful information)
I used his reviews to purchase my first setup of plastic cards (which I still have!) His chips reviews (especially of ASM and BCC chips), led me to look for real chips, "like they used in Vegas casinos". That search led me to eBay, where I found PNYs, which then led me to the blue wall, which of course led me here!

He was a huge asset to the home game community! RIP, you will be missed!

^^^This. From rules, to structures, to cards, the site covers a lot of ground, and I've made good use of it (and continue to do so). I can only hope that his nephew will be able to keep the site running, as there is a lot of good information there. Other than the prices, vendors, and some missing/changed styles, the cards reviews are as valid today as they were when they were written.

RIP.

Sad news. I found hpt before ct, before here (obviously).

The former pointed me in the right direction for running my games - seriously, pretty much everything - and also introduced this idea of clay chips into my head and wallet.
