If I was going to do a home game with 9 players, 20k start with blinds starting at 50/100 what chip amounts and denominations would people recommend?

500pc set covering a table for 10 players max.

Denoms of 25/100/500/2000/10000

Starting stacks of 12/12/9/7

120x 25
120x 100
100x 500 (You only need 90, but we're filling out the barrel)
140x 2k
20x 10k

This gives you enough for a table of 10, plus one rebuy for everyone, and enough extra 2k's to color up everything below it.

Sound about right, @ChaosRock?

Yezzir!

My preferred 500 set, though, would be 120/120/120/100/40 though, just in case we wanna run 15 players at 10K or (25K) at 8/8/8/5/(1)

The denominations listed above include a T2000 and a T5000, which are more efficient, but are uncommon, probably unavailable if you're buying stock denominated chops, and strange (at least in my opinion.) The more commion tournament denominations are:
25/100/500/1000/5000
I'm no expert, but I'd suggest starting stacks something like:
12/12/5/6/2
Meaning you'd need:
120 x T25
120 x T100
60 x T500
60 x T1000 (or 80 , if you want to color up the 100's, which I don't think is necessary for a single table tournament)
20 x T5000 (or 40 if you want extras for rebuys)

Minor correction, the above posts suggestions included a T10K not a T5K.

Your breakdown using a T1K/T5K is fine, however I don't know what kinda 20K tournament doesn't NOT color up the T100s... 10 players at 20K is 200K (not counting any re-buys), tourney usually ends no later than 20BB total so blinds would be around 5K/10K. What are you doing with T100s on the table if you're not using antes? Yes, the T100 will ALWAYS be colored up unless one is using antes.

Hmm, though it said 10k. Weird. My bad.
Anyway, you're right about the coloring up hundreds, definitely with a 20k anyway. I'm just lazy and you CAN get away with not doing it in a single table tournament.
