I will be buying a new mixed game cash set. I've been occasionally playing poker with my family and have been introducing mixed games: Holdem, Omaha 8, Stud High, Stud 8, 5 card draw, 2-7 triple draw, some other made up games etc. I have been running mostly fixed limit but I also have a player who likes spread limit. So I want a poker set that allows me to run both fixed limit and spread limit with the small bet spread being 1-5 and the big bet spread being 2-10. I'm new to fixed limit and spread limit, so if you have a better structure let me know.

My initial thoughts are a total of 1,000 chips with 900x 1 unit chips and 100x 20 unit chips. I plan to do nondenominational so I can run any stakes. However, I'm open to buying more chips if needed. I'm not sure how running a spread limit will affect the number of chips that I need.

What are your thoughts on the best breakdown for this game?

If money is not an issue, it's common to add at least a barrel of a third denomination representing hundreds.

If you want the flexibility of doing pot limit in the future, one rack of a frac denomination, and two racks of a $5 denomination.

Awesome, thank you. I want to keep this one for limit only as I have a separate NL set.

Yep, that's what I did for my limit mixed game set. Mine are marked as $1 / $20 but, for the tightwads I play with, we play them at half value or even 10c / $2.

That sounds good. I’d be interested in your idea about the ratio between Fixed-Limit small bet and big bet compared to Spread Limit. Let’s say you’re playing Fixed-Limit with a small bet of $2. Would the small-bet spread then be $2 to $10, and the big-bet spread $4 to $20–10?

I think I may have been mistaken on the best way to run spread limit. I've read that keeping the same spread across all streets is a way to run it. Not sure what you all would suggest.

But yes, in my initial post I was thinking small bet could be $2-10 and big bet would be $4 - $20. But I may just keep it at $1-$5 or $2-$10 across all streets.

I've played a lot of spread limit, because many cities here require it by law.

One thing that can happen with small spreads is players either limp or max bet.

For a real spread, where players have min medium and max bets, a 2-30 or 2-40 can be better.
