I ordered secondary high-denomination chips for my Arizona Club set as I have suspected the current one might cause some dirty stack issues. They were in play last year at RIA-II and while there weren't any terrible problems, my suspicions were confirmed seeing them in play and in photos.

The secondary $20 is all set (imperial blue and DG green) and I decided on a white $100 to help it stand out against the rest of the set. When I started mocking up the inlays, I worried the white background (even with the subtle lizard "watermark") might not work too well. I mocked up a version with a black inlay background, like the commemorative $1s I had made, and keep looking at them and just can't quite decide.

I have a favorite, and that might very well be the one I use despite this poll and thread, but I'm curious what the group thinks here.

All of the other chips in the set have white backgrounds other than the anniversary chips. I've seen old-school chips that use a black background inlay in a white chip when the rest of the set are in white (I'm looking at you Sunflower from Reno) so this wouldn't be completely out of line.

Do I go with the white background to match the rest of the set despite being on a white chip or black background for maximum contrast?

The mockups.

The rest of the set, minus the black background anniversary $1s.

Do you have any concerns at all over low light situations where the $5 might contrast with that $100? Not sure, but based on the picture of actual chip, and scrolling to the mock up of the $100, that was a thought for me anyways.

I have played with my color sample in lower lighting (darker than the environment where I play) and have no issues. It's part of the reason why I decided on the bright white and not the normal white.

Thanks for the concern. It's appreciated to have another set of eyes looking at this. That's half the reason why I need secondaries... I didn't have that feedback when I made these the first go around.

Any thought of doing 2 sided inlay? White on one side, and black on the other? Then you can even use it for heads/tails, lol.

I hadn't thought about it but it's now rattling around in my mind.

I did two different sides in the anniversary chip. Both were black, with the intent of making them stick out enough that the monkeys in my game would actually realize they were "special". Both anniversary chips I have made before were completely ignored.

Crummy picture fresh from the box when they arrived.

I voted for black before seeing all the others are white. I’d prefer all to be the same

I voted white because it makes a more cohesive set with the rest. Also the white matches better with a white inlay imo.
Even though I love the yellow 1$ anniversary’s with that black inlay

I like black for contrast, white on white doesn't really pop. I think it's fitting for the highest denom.
