Greetings!

My subject line... I swear I was a registered user 20-25 years ago here, but could be mistaken. I think I made my way here because of my interest in chips, and because I had heard about a Paulson Pharaoh group buy. My whole poker circle went crazy when we heard we could get our hands on some nice Paulson's, just like some of our favorite casinos. I tried to say "forgot password" and entered about every email address I've had back 25 years, but no dice. I believe I was on here for a few years chatting with folks, making buys, but then of course life happens and as of the last 2 years, I find myself living in Texas instead of Wisconsin...

Been just viewing posts and looking at pics of beautiful chips for the last 3-5 months, and figured, why not just register (or re-register) and say hey! Since I've got my eyes on some of the classifieds.

I really hope this doesn't make any waves (I read the new user "rules", and I'm a rule follower), but I was cleaning out a closet here in Texas, and came across my group by and wanted to share pics. It's sad that COVID seemed to kill in-person tourneys, but when I uncovered these (which were forgotten for at least the last 5-6 years), it just brought me joy. I'm not pimping them out, asking what they're worth, or anything like that. I'm just excited to share. If they're not sought after, I'm sure folks will still appreciate them. Bought 1000, and our group buy price was $1 a piece (which is crazy to think I dropped 1k that long ago on poker chips - I rarely treated myself to much). They saw some tourney use, but when I re-discovered them, I was shocked to see that even the low value ones weren't dirty at all, and they all have sharp edges. I'm embarrassed to admit that I've just taken them out and have been looking at them for the last 45 minutes.

Anyhoo... Glad to be here and looking forward to finding some purchases and just sharing what stories we have. Hope you enjoy the pics as well. I guess I made a good call going non-denominational as well. I was running software for my tourneys back in the day (can't recall the name) that let you pick the color and denomination of the chip in the setup, and then it showed on the monitor for all to see... Glad to be here everyone!

Sean

I assume you probably were on chiptalk, PCF is not quite that old and I believe the pharaohs group buy was on that site. Either way, welcome home to chip degen.

You were registered on chiptalk.net (what we call the Blue Wall), which no longer exists. PCF is a different site that took in all the refugees from chiptalk.

Greg was the owner/admin from CT who organized the Paulson Pharaoh group buy. (He's no longer in the chipping world due to some personal reasons).

Welcome! You will be surprised at how many new Paulson offerings this community has to offer from a company that hasn't sold to the public in over a decade. ;)

Awesome that you remember the pharaoh group by and who ran it. Sounds crazy, but the name is ringing a bell now. I definitely plan on looking around and would love to expand my collection.

Welcome!
You‘ll be surprised how many new Paulsons hit the market after the beautiful Pharaoh‘s.

Not for the same price tag for sure…

Have fun!

Speaking of which, hey @mattross1313, is Greg still around, chipping in the shadows? ;)

I thought I read you talking about working with him on some artwork recently.

Welcome (back)! Reading your comments that those gorgeous chips of yours were $1 each makes me cry out of jealousy. Lol

Welcome to the "new" site. Those Pharaohs are awesome! One of my first sets that brought me down this rabbit hole.

I helped distribute sample sets of those Pharaoh's chips back in 2005. They were $0.87/ea from Holdem Poker Chips who carried inventory for them.

Nice! I bought 2 sample sets, or perhaps I bought a few of each color to keep on my desk to play with. Now those are well used and dirty….

So cool to hear about chiptalk and where chipping community was before PCF, welcome and welcome back!
