Hello everybody my name’s Hunter, I’m 20 years old and from Northern Minnesota.
I just joined this forum a couple days ago and finally figured out how to post, literally right after hunting David’s email down to purchase a few barrels of chips off of him. Which is actually quite Ironic as my username is a shorter version of my Play Station username;‘Huntyoudown747’. (The “747” coming from the best airplane of all time.)
Also I did request to change my username to WWB if possible, but more on that in a bit.
Now for a little bit of background on myself; I was raised on a family resort owned by the last 3 generations of my family. So fortunately in my younger years I’ve had experience doing a bit of everything from 50 hour Line Chef weeks at 14y/o, to carpentry, to all the BOH reporting etc… as sort of a CTO position. But now recently I’ve decided i’m fairly adamant on moving on from the resort, as I’ve got a 2 year old son at home. And personally I don’t see the payoff in the 80+ hour weeks my parents put themselves through, all to barely even know their own kids and family at the end of the day.
Fortunately though due to my abundance of skills and a constant desire to learn more about everything; I have always leaned heavily into STEM, (Science, technology, engineering, and math) which has always seemed to put me ahead of a lot my peers and has opened the doors for many wonderful opportunities to rack my brain.
Now just over a year ago, after finally realizing just how toxic and cold my baby-mama and the whole situation really was; I decided I needed to get me and my son out of it for the better of all 3 of us. The next couple months were literal hell to the point that I honestly didn’t think I’d make it out; but through a lot of self exploration, I figured I ultimately just wanted my passion and curiosity back. I had lost track myself trying keep my relationship from falling apart.
Just prior to leaving her I ended up buying a 1976 Winnebago Brave that was basically gutted out off Facebook marketplace, and drove that piece of plywood home in the wind 3 hour! -Here’s where it starts to get interesting I promise.
Once home I started looking for slot machines to put in it so I could officially coin it The Winnie-Winnie-Bago!
So if my username changes to WWB…^^^
That year I ended up getting a S2000 for $400 and held onto it until winter; when I ended up getting a Helluva deal, trading for a full-blown $2000 touch-screen vending machine! -Which I’ve been making bank with since.
Fast forward to earlier this summer I stumbled across an awesome guy out in North Dakota and bought a pair of IT U23s off of him for $1200. -another helluva deal!
Finally I finished off my slots collection with a S9000 that I found on marketplace for $200. -Does it stop?
Oh plus I bought a Fish Table Game Board off eBay, but I’m waiting tell next summer to build a cabinet and put it all together. -If anyone knows where to get decoders for these please pm me.
But let me tell you I’ve been drooling over all the features and statistics that all my machines give me. - I guess you could call me a nerd
Originally I was thinking I would like to add most likely a Black-Jack table, as I doubt I could fit a poker table in there. And started by looking into custom chips with a custom Winnie Winnie Bago inlay. Now I remember stumbling across this forum a while back while I was ordering some samples, but didn’t think much about joining as I tend to shy away from forums. But I do recall reading a really informative post written by a well respected member on here, but I don’t happen to remember his name unfortunately. This led me down a rabbit hole all night at work reading through this forum and learning a whole lot in the process. -I’ve been working at a local hospital lately as security so lots of free time for my shenanigans!
But there’s one thing that stood out to me from almost everything I read about, and that’s the fact that nobody offers custom molds to the custom chip community.
That’s when I decided to invest in a better quality 3D printer than my original Ender 3 I’ve had for years, and now I’m sure you can guess where this is going… Immediately after receiving my new printer; between printing out poker chips with all sorts of different mold designs, along with a couple models of my Head CT. -I don’t think it ever got a break from printing In the first month and a half that I owned it.
Though through all this experimentation I’ve been preforming, I’ve been able to learn an immense amount of information about everything from chip design, to plastics, and so much more.
And I plan to continue to expand my knowledge and understanding of all this I’ve mentioned here.
But that brings me to now where I’d love to have some high quality clay chips with my custom mold designs but don’t have a place to start.
I’ve had the idea of making sort of custom mold cups or branding irons with my design to potentially “heat press” / Brand some finished chips. And being I’ve got a pretty good relationship with my old Robotics Coaches / Shop Class teachers I would imagine using the school’s CNC Shop wouldn’t be a problem. Otherwise I’ve also thought about just milling / laser engraving some designs into some finished chips, almost as I did years ago with a cheap set of dice chips.
There are a few other ideas that I’ve got; but I will keep those to myself for now as I don’t want to step on anyone’s toes, and I have a feeling I’m already walking a fine line with some of this forum’s awesome members. Which I absolutely don’t mean to do as I’m astonished with all the lovely members and contributors, and the overall wealth of knowledge this community provides to one another. Also sorry for making this so long and turning it into a mini therapy session; I just feel like a little background Info would go a long way, and I’d love love to hear some people ideas, advice, and suggestions. Because ultimately I’d love to somehow get into the gaming industry one day but not quite sure where to start.
I will post a few of my designs, processes, and chips once I figure out how. But as a little precursor for what to expect, let me tell you I accidentally came up with the perfect roulette chip mold design, that enables you to stack chips floor-ceiling with no worry of your stack toppling over. I honestly think people are going to love it for its use as roulette chips, but heck even players with uneven playing surfaces or as a portable camping poker set.
I will end this here for now, but just know you’ll hear and see more from me in the future and I hope everyone is having a great night so far.
