The reason I joined is I was looking to see if anyone had any details on a set of poker chips/cards/carousel that I recently came across.

I am not looking at selling them as I got them from a very good friend. But if they turn out to be worth more than he thinks they are I want to give them back to him, or just keep them around so when we play poker we can enjoy them.

Anyhow, I want to make sure I don't break any rules if I were to post pictures just looking for details. Again, I am not looking to sell them as they were a thoughtful gift from a very good friend.

I did find similar chips on eBay and asked the seller if he had details on them. He thought they were dated 1901-1910 pre-bakelite and probably clay, but wasn't sure.

Thanks!

Hello! Well, after saying hi and getting such quick responses, I wanted to post pictures of the poker card/chip carousel a friend gifted me. I am not looking to sell, but if he happened to give me what he thought was just "junk" I want to return them. :)

From my searches they appear to be Seymour SSA? That's all I found doing an image search and finding matches on eBay. I emailed the seller and he said most likely clay and 1901-1910 for a date. I am looking for any info. I resized the photos since they were so big, so if anyone wants higher rez I can post them... :) Here they are:

I should note, all the chips are there. Some sleeves look empty because we have a lot of them set up to play our weekly poker game.

You're breaking unwritten rules by not posting pictures.

Welcome btw!
Here you go! I tried to make a post in the General forum but I don't see it showing up. :)

Interesting.. I posted this in the main general chip forum. :)

I would call myself a fairly knowledgeable chipper that has been into chipping for 20+ yrs, but I have little to no experience with that type of chip. I have seen them, but I don't really know....

Here is my take.
There isn't much interest in that type of chip so they aren't likely to sell for much. They will work just fine for poker and if you are happy with them, then just keep them and use them.

Thanks! I just want to make sure he didn't hand me something worth a lot of money or not. They're obviously not casino type chips, but instead something someone would have bought in the early 1900s as a home set of chips and cards.

All I see is a couple people trying to sell single chips for $2-$5 or so on eBay.

They are composition chips a/k/a Famous Jockey Club, made (or at least distributed by Compo-site Inc.) Newark, N.J. circa 1940s. Not valuable enough for you to feel you need to return to anyone.
