Head On Collision (4 Viewers)

Probably a tourist. I was born in MA, never wore a seatbelt until I lived on the western slope for 8 years and witnessed "tourists" in SUVs getting into accidents all over "killer" 85. Now I wear one every time I get in a car.

According to Allstate, Boston tops the list of worst drivers. I'm guessing the only reason that Madisonville KY didn't finish in first is that half those bumpkin idiot drivers don't have insurance and therefore aren't tracked by the actuaries. And no, I've never lived there..... but do fear for my vehicular safety every single time I go to visit my mother. It's simply amazing how inept and inattentive they are as a group.

Top Five Worst:
1. Boston MA
2. Worcester,MA
3. Baltimore, MD
4. Washington, DC
5. Springfield, MA

It's Worcester, pronounced "Wooster". Yes, it makes even less sense than you can imagine.

Loop New Hampshire into a ball with Massachusetts and I can confirm worst drivers in the nation. I'm from Connecticut FWIW.

I've lived in MA and nh for most of my life. MA much worse than NH mostly because MA drivers are so much more aggressive on top of their bad habits and decisions.

That said, I'm planning on moving back to MA next year.

Only if you include "used to live". Left Vegas 13 years ago... that town still holds the title and it's not close.

I lived in Vegas for a couple years. You're right, lots of terrible drivers there. A couple of coworkers out there had owned motorcycles in the past. They expressed to me that they didn't feel comfortable owning/riding one in Vegas, due to the driving out there. They flat out told me that they wouldn't buy another motorcycle, until they left Vegas.

I've had the privilege of visiting almost every state in the nation. From my experience, Philly and NYC have the worst drivers. Maybe thats just most aggressive drivers, but to me thats the worst. Philly wins for most blatant red light runs. I can't count on both hands and feet how many times I've watched somebody creap up to a red light to make sure nobodys coming and just go through it. NYC drivers win for only caring about themselves, famous for driving in the left lane with nobody in front of or beside them. I actually saw a guy roll down a window, stick his head out, and bang his hand against the side of his car while screaming, "HEY! I'm driving ova ere!" I couldn't help but laugh at that one.

NUMBER ONE AGAIN! Suck it!

I'm in the Krafty camp - MD drivers are the worst. I've never lived there, but have made enough trips to know the difference from one bad experience and a whole state of people in need of self-driving cars.

Disclaimer, I've never been to MA, so I respect claims that they are the worst.

Logically, I guess anytime you add tourists to a location you are increasing the possibility of bad driving as people check their sat-nav trying to type in "gas station" without pulling over.

Philly wins for most blatant red light runs. I can't count on both hands and feet how many times I've watched somebody creap up to a red light to make sure nobodys coming and just go through it.

In Detroit, we called this the "No cop, no stop" rule. It's a rule. You remain at a red light too long in the wrong neighborhood, and you risk being car-jacked. I still apply it to red lights to this day.

Other notables not mentioned:
  • Virginia - where it is common to come to a complete stop before merging onto a highway.
  • Tennessee - Not the drivers, but their parking lots. State/local laws require putting trees and shrubs in parking lots. This means a number of people pulling out of their spots without any chance of seeing oncoming traffic.
  • Miami/Florida - Tourism + immigrants from countries where the words "traffic" and "laws" are never put together

And that's why Connecticut drivers are the worst. They have no self-awareness.

MA drivers are aggro, but are generally self-aware and expect other drivers to be just as aggro.

I think driving in general has taken a turn for the worse (see what I did there) due to the smart phone. I see it all the time. I was recently watching a lady in the left lane staring at her phone while her speed varied between 55 and 75 mph for over a minute. It's crazy, and I would not want to drive a motorcycle on the streets of Michigan. I think it's bad all over.
By the way, recent fatal crash in Detroit while driving was watching porn on a tablet. Talk about distracted driving!

What dash cam do you use? I'm in the market for one.

I think it's an Eeyelog EHD 75 or something. To be honest, it's not that great, and I don't think they even make them anymore.

Most dashcams are complete shit, and won't last one cold winter. They just don't do well in temperature extremes in general (hot or cold).

I've gotten lucky that this one has lasted a few years, but even then, it sounds like a dying duck when it powers on in sub-freezing temps. :/

Sorry I can be of more help. I think they are made like crap (and priced accordingly) so you have to buy one every 18 months.

Props to you, sir, for using turn signals.

+1 point for me! (y)

...

But -500 for blazing through the stop sign? :coffee::x

Probably a tourist.

Tourist, or new in town... Notice the temp tags. Guy just bought that car. Bummer. :(

He was sitting at that intersection for a minute or two, missing a multitude of opportunities to proceed forward, which just drove me bonkers. I figured he was lost, so I didn't lay on the horn. But I was clearly frustrated (which can be seen by my flying through the stop sign after he finally pulled ahead).
