Looking to see if anybody out there has done a successful bitmap trace of the Paulson THC and RHC logos? I like bitmaps for the scalability, but beggers cannot be choosers. I am not a professional and use freeware in Inkscape and GIMP. I am working on a 3D printing project. If somebody can supply me with the bitmaps, I will send a small token of appreciation once the project is completed :)

I tried using Inkscape to grab traces from a photo of a chip and had horrible luck. I am guessing I need better lighting to define the imprinted lines. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

@allforcharity Planning to print the hat and cane in 3D to go in my display cabinet with the chips. Also have plans to 3D print some of the casino logos that will work well with solid filaments. I am new to 3D printing, so may take me a little bit to nail down the creation of the casino logos.

@Nex - created these awesome cookie cutters with a 3D printer, so he might have a good file.

Sadly not. Had to retrace a raster graphic scan of a THC chip directly in Autodesk Inventor as its vector graphics import function is utter trash. If it actually worked, I sure would have traced it in Illustrator instead and would have a shareable file now...

@Nex It sounds like you're much more experienced in the 3D field based on your content! Awesome work on the cookies and tubes. My buddy is an engineer by tradeand has a side gig making Peloton parts with a Prusa farm. If you want to talk over having prints made, he is always looking for something new to keep his farm busy!

If you don't have the render, I would be counting on one of the graphics guys it sounds like. I guess my stubborn self will have to put more effort into crafting a trace!

I only got into it January this year, but I probably did pick ambitious first projects, so I probably learned relatively fast. About to get my second printer... originally I had thought I wouldn't keep more than one at the same time given how little space I have, but when Prusa announced this super compact and easy/fast to (dis)assemble mini printer, I thought it might actually work.

I'm in the subway right now but when I'm home I can retrace the hat logo in Illustrator if noone has posted any files by then. Just need to know which variant - THC LCV, SCV, RHC or the variant they use on the 43mms - or better yet a high resolution scan of a sample chip. The logo itself isn't that complex.

I appreciate that, would be interested in how you plan to do the trace? I only know how to use Inkscape to use their Paths > Trace to Bitmap feature. Upon using that, I've had trouble getting that feature to identify the hat and cane logo accurately.

Ideally I plan to make all of them. I personally obsess over THC chips so I'd prefer to start there if you have time! Thanks a ton!

If I only had a scan of a chip, I'd manually trace it. The automatic feature only works well when the logo has already been traced and you merely have a re-rasterized version of it.

Okay that makes sense! I appreciate your help here, I will make scans of a number of chips when I get home. May be a bit later this evening. Approximately 3-4 hours.

I don't know which format you need, so I included EPS and SVG versions.
For THC-SCV I still had a homemade scan.

Certainly not perfect, but should be perfectly okay if you only need it at the size they would normally apear on chips.

Thank you, I actually think the first iteration that you have is pretty solid. Not sure how much better we can get. Here is my first real crappy scan from an HP Printer. Going to try black background and see if it resolves any of the inconsistencies.

@Nex are either of these any help?

@davin if there's any interest, I'd be happy to make some. May need to ask the powers that be how that works on the forum though. Would I need to be a vendor(@Tommy )?

Cost is minimal, mostly time spent loading different filament colors and takes roughly an hour to print. PM me and let me know what color ya want! Printing white, red, and yellow now to see what they look like. Here's a pic of my cabinet, picturing it so you can try to choose a color that makes sense for your set(s).

@Marhault happy to discuss with ya! Pm me a color preference and maybe size you're thinking. I have some other color options that haven't printed yet too.

Those are sweet. Pretty sure you could sell them easily around here. Have a price in mind? I would be interested.

@WedgeRock good point. I don't know stipulations on copyright, but these were technically created independently and not a direct copy of the chip. The trace that I had received did not end up panning out. I have a buddy created an independent logo and adjusted angles and planes of the cane and hat also hit effectively to be able to stand up. Nowhere close to a lawyer. Just trying to create a cool item to add to collector's cabinets and recoup the 3D filament costs that made them :)
