Hard Rock - Rockford RHC Relabels (1 Viewer)

Could you have someone hotstamp just ‘00’ squeezed in to the right of the $1? I know nothing of hotstamping if that’s feasible though.
Yeah, I think you'd have to remove the $1 and Lake tahoe, flatten just that area, and then you could likely fit in a $100 that would look good. Something I'm going to test out before I remove everything.. but may not be possible.

Talking through the hot stamp idea, seems like a fools errand to try to match that well.. so leaning more into hot stamp removal/surface leveling and overlabel.

That said, other chips mostly feature album art covers tied to Rockford (exception being cheap trick guitar, as their album covers didn't work well and I liked the guitar).

For the white chip.. debating if I go to another cover... there's one that just keeps coming to mind though...... :ROFLMAO:

Made a quick stop today while in town. Kind of like the thought of seeing if I can work the guitar in daylight into the $100 inlay, but we'll see when back.

Well, I...
  • Ordered a custom hotstamp die
  • Color matched foils
  • Made a small fixture to place where I wanted it (to better control the soldering iron I have... not ideal).
  • Bought 200 grit sandpaper and tested local removal of the prior denom.

Not bad.. tried on a chip that had a pretty big bite out of it.

That said, could likely get better over time (and would likely reduce the $100 denom if I went forward), but likely NOT going to do this to all of the remaining good chips (too many variables and not enough expertise/etc to get them all right). Was worth a shot at least, and learned a few things about hot stamping along the way. Also don't like the idea of removing the rest of the stamps for an inlay after simmering on these... so will put the couple barrels I have in the vault for now.

Love the concept. I wonder how easy it will be to find minty or excellent horseshoe Cleveland fives… don’t recall ever seeing any that weren’t super worn.
There were some near mint $5s mixed in with all the casino-used - they were very noticeable and made up something like 5-10% of the racks. And there were some guys who bought a whole bunch and cherry-picked.
So they exist, but unlikely easy to find.
