Long time lurker here, but wanted to introduce myself formally. As title states from the St Louis Missour area and I play home games on average about 3 times a week with a mix of tournaments and cash games. Had my own home game set up until about 5 years then life happened I kind of put things in storage for a while but ready to get going again.

Currently have the Yin Yangs for my tournament set and Milanos for the cash game and my wife was gracious to enough to get me a nice Triton table for my birthday about 2 years ago. Super excited to get the game going again although I am looking to replace the Yin Yangs with something else. I have a barrel of Nexgens ordered as well as Tina samples coming from Justin at Broken Arrow.

Of course like many others on here, I have gone down the rabbit hole not only with chips but various cards as well. I swear I must have 30 different setups, although the Jdesigns are still some of my favorites.

As a bit of additional information, along with some friends, I have helped host one the biggest 5 person team tournaments in area in the last five years, hitting 240 players last year.

Excited to be here and grateful for all the information everyone shares!

That sounds awesome, this is the goal!

If you’re ever interested in meeting some other PCFers, let me know. I host at least weekly, but now have a small batch of other members from around the state than make it down to play on occasion. I’ll happily host a small meetup game and fill in spots with regs, as needed to make sure we have full tables. I know it’s a hike, but maybe if you’re already coming to Springfield for other reasons or something. Of course you’d be welcome any old time, but it’s always fun to meet some other PCFers and I’d bet a small meetup game could easily be arranged.

Although they don’t get a lot of love on this forum, IMO the Nexgen Remix Pro are a nice step up from the Yin Yangs and are my go to set for my 2 table home tourneys due to their affordability and I’m not worried about losing chips. I like their more “traditional” chip face and edge spot design and you can mix/match a 1000 chip set of for $240 at thepokerstore.com

For my smaller games, especially with those that appreciate nicer chips, the sun/web/greek/jester/Tangiers hybrid molds from Justin’s PCF group buy are a delightful step up in quality and style. The combination of a mold choice along with pre-designed or customizable labels make countless options available. Twice the cost of the Nexgens (plus a label fee) makes them quite a bit more expensive, but still way more affordable than top-end chips. I have these in a classic Stardust casino design on web molds.

Ceramics are another nice option, but have a different feel than “clay composite” (i.e. plastic chips) and even more expensive @ 65¢-75¢/ea. I love my Dia De Los Muertos set from www.BRProPoker.com and have it in my small game chip set rotation.

For cards, Desjgn’s are my favorite PCV plastic card and Da Vinci my favorite acetate plastic. Both are incredibly affordable and just the right anoint of flexibility for me. Now the real (and divisive) question is: bridge vs. poker size, and regular vs. blackjack vs. jumbo index!

You’ve got lots of experience (and opinions) at your disposal here on PCF, so lean in and welcome to the world of PCF!
