Hello chippers! Long time listener first time caller here hoping to solicit some of your sage wisdom.

My poker journey began at the beginning of this year. What started as a spur of the moment poker game has become a weekly cash game and it seems that it will be around to stay. We don't play for much, $.05/.10, but it's a great opportunity to get the guys together regularly and spend some time together. Plus, it's been wonderful to watch (almost) everyone's game go from needing a reference chart to know what beats what to taking things seriously and playing at a competent, competitive level.

After hosting for a few months and browsing the forum, it was pretty obvious that I was going to need a set of custom chips at some point. The dice are doing their job, but something specific to us and our club was the dream. As a relatively broke university student I figured it would be an investment for down the road, but after an unprecedented Christmas windfall, a set of Tina's is no longer out of reach...

Which leads me to this thread. Our club is the Grand River Card Room, named for the region of Waterloo's premiere watercourse. I wanted something that felt classic, closer to a western aesthetic than a traditional "casino". In keeping with the local inspiration, I've so far used this painting of the Grand by a local artist from long enough ago to have a street named after him (Homer Watson boulevard, not a particularly nice street) as the aesthetic touchstone:

My sister, who is much more artistically gifted than myself, is working on an inlay design centered around the cow as a graphic icon, and I'm loosely basing the chip design around elements of the painting.

So, preamble aside, here's what I have so far. In order, these will be the 5 cent, 25 cent, $1, $5, and $25 chips. As eluded to, the plan is to get a set of Tina's printed on the 39mm hybrid web molds.

I'm pretty sold on the Nickel (a humble pebble), absolutely married to the quarter (the cow!), and relatively sold on the $1 (the river) as something at least very similar to these options.

From there, it gets a little more iffy. I'd like to have a red 5 (perhaps we can call it the sun? Sunrise?), but I don't want it to be so bold that it clashes with the relatively mellow and neutral palette preceding it. As you can see, I've experimented with something a little pinker, but I'm still not sure if I've found "it". I do like the 3TA14 edge spot as a compliment to the $1.

The $25 is anybody's guess. Green is of course standard, and on theme, but I'm not sure how to make it grand enough while also meshing with the rest of the set. I've tried inviting a bolder purple, as well as calling back to the blue of the $1, but I'm not sure anything really resonates with me yet.

I'd greatly appreciate any input you guys have. I'm very excited to hopefully end up with a set that fits our group's needs while also representing our identity.

Nice backstory to the chips. I like the idea of each chip design relating to a specific element. A few thoughts:

1. Have you considered a trimoon edge spot to represent the various spots on the cow? Could be cool to have different shades of brown for each ‘moon’.
2. I like the idea of the red 5 representing sunset colours. The base colour of cherry works well, and I like the orange edge spots on red v1. Just be wary of brown edge spots clashing with the cow chip.
3. Not a huge fan of the blue edge spots on the 25, would be in favour of swapping them for a light green or even white to make them really pop. (Referring to 25 v1)

Thank you for your feedback! I have tried a few versions of the cow, but I am definitely married to the 1/4 pie. I do love 3TRIM+ and experimented with using it for the $1, but ultimately I think the bigger spots suit that chip better.

As for the other two, I agree. I think nixing the brown on the 5 makes room for a slightly rosier palette without going as far as the other two versions I had. I like them, but I don't think this is their set, and this 5 is certainly on its way.

As for the 25, I think the white really does it. I'm now also considering doing a wheaty/grassy yellow $20 chip instead. from a practical standpoint I think our game still plays small enough that a 20 will be more practical than a 25, but will also give us enough headroom to grow and raise the stakes in the future.
