It only took 2½ years, but the makers of this atrocity...

...have sold to the Meruelo group. The Meruelo group is responsible for these icon chips...

Not much better, but at least it's not the SLS logoless chip. Best part (perhaps) is that it is rumored that the new owners want to change the hotel's name back to Sahara. One can only hope that they will want to go full-on retro...

Can't see anything short of a miracle saving the property irrespective of what they call it.

I could name about a dozen things wrong with the place but aside from all those, firstly they'd need to move it a mile up the strip for any chance of not waving goodbye to a large chunk of change.

Please keep us posted on the opening date :) ... need a couple of racks of those minty $1s :)

in the article they stated:
"While the casino hasn’t officially said what Club 52 refers to, we’ve heard the name reflects the fact the Sahara opened in 1952. SLS Las Vegas, of course, was the result of a massive renovation of that classic Las Vegas hotel-casino."

The grand Sierra chips are the worst I've ever played with in a casino, a mix of two different sized ceramics plus those plastic atrocities that the labels are peeing off of and get snagged on the felt. Hope they do these better.

I've been looking, but no new "Sahara" chips have been approved by the NGC...

I like the name change. SLS is so generic. What did it even stand for?

So its a good idea but the location sucks. I only started going to Vegas about 3 years ago, and have stayed up and down the main strip, but I have never gone further north than Venetian (for poker). To play poker there would be a heck of a long walk with very little in between.

What this the original location of the Saraha?

The Sahara was a dive, but it was a heartwarming dive. It was the last resort (no pun intended) of older hookers before they transitioned into off strip cocktail waitresses.
The had a decent poker room and I played some rocking low limit poker there.

Wait....Las Vegas has cocktail waitresses you can f*ck ?
I need to play less and drink more obviously
