We play a 5c-10c game here. It plays a little bigger then it sounds. In the last 2 years, I've been in search of nickle's to use. Over that time, I've got 4 different ones that can be used.
Now the question is:
Which nickle, 5c, to use with the new Faro Dunes set?

I've genuinely made a decision to use each of 3 individual nickle's, only to change my mind.

Here are the 3 options:

Artichoke Joe's 5 cent chips (A)

Bill's Golden Clovis 5 cent (B)

Dunes T5

I'll probably alternate between two over time, and possibly move on from one of them. (Though unlikely, given the lack of options in the nickle market)

Looking at the pictures above, the arc-yellow quarter is way off its true color in these pictures.

Another consideration is given for color blind folks.

There are enough Artichoke Joe's to play 10 handed. So not worried about quantity.
I did purchase the Faro Dunes set with that Artichoke nickle in mind originally. I really like that Having an edge spot on the quarter ties in the Artichoke nickle to the set.

Last night I was completely sold on using the Bill's Golden as the nickle for the next game. Given the big contrast, the cent denomination, and the newness to me.
As much as I like the half-moon Dunes, I'm not a super fan of t5, when cent is available. Having said that, the colors are bright on the Dune t5, and match the tone of the Farro Dunes.
A neat new insight with writing this thread, i realized that the Dunes name onbthe half pie might tie in with Faro Dunes a bit.

Its nice option to have, imo, not knowing which chip to present in a game.

Man, I’ve eyed those Dunes T5’s for years now. I could never think of a use for them though. But they’re very cool chips.

Bill's $.05 is the way to go here. Not the 'coolest' chip in the lineup, but as far as fitting with the set it's the only choice imo. Edgespot progression is big, and with the Dunes it's looks like you may have the potential of dirty stacks.

I am biased, but I think that the Bill’s 5c looks the best. The 5c doesn’t need to be flashy. The dunes and artichoke joes are bullies to the rest of the set, and the roulette 5 just doesn’t feel right. Maybe a dessert house 5c would fit in.

Like the contrast of the artichoke with the 25c chip better. Tough to tell for sure with the pics but wonder if the dune half pie yellow is too close to the faro dune 25c

The spotted chips in the OP are too loud and the solids, while being the best option to let the OGs shine, are just too old school.

Went with the Bill's Golden last night.

I think it was the right choice. Certainly, I'll switch them up in the future.

The impression i took was: the grey on the Clovis nickle really helped with a calming effect. I liked having the nickle so different from the rest. Made it more cool to stack.
