Hello everyone,

I planning to buy my first set for single table tournament NLH for 6 player up to 10 players.

I would like it to be a T100 or T500 based set with at least 4 different chip color.

Expected time play should be 3~4 hours.

Looking forward to get your recommandation or provide more inf
ormation If needed.

Based on recommandation found on the forum here is the option i keep for T100 based set.

40k stacks (200bb starting with 100/200)
41 chips / player :
- 15/7/15/4

10-player set:
150 x T100
70 x T500
150 x T1000
120? x T5000
10 x T25000
10 x Boutny

For a total of 510 chips

T5000 will be used for color up, and re-buy

Looks good, can it be improved?
How much spare do i need?
What about a T500 based set?

t500 more efficient so can be less expensive if cost per chip is equal with only 400 chips per 10 players with enough for rebuy / add on.

T500 will be more effective.
That is, you will need fewer chips, with the same comfort and the same amount of BB. 400 pieces.
But, the problem with both options is that it will be very very expensive if you plan to buy clay. 6-10.000+€ (if it is Paulson) or about 500-2000€ (depending on the complexity of the chip), but it will be CPC.
If plastic, then of course several times cheaper. Up to 300-500€, depending on the quality.

You don’t need so many 1Ks, since by the time players are using more of them, a few players may already be eliminated.

T100:
15/7/10/5 starting stacks for 40K, with one 0/0/0/8 rebuy per player:
150x 100
70x 500
100x 1K
133x 5K
=453 total chips

15 minute levels:
100/200
100/300
200/500
400/800
600/1200
Break - Color Up 100s - End Rebuys
1000/2000
1500/3000
2500/5000
4000/8000
6000/12000 (Est. EOT for 5-6 total entries)
Break - Color Up 500s and 1Ks
10,000/20,000 (Est. EOT for 7-10 total entries)
15,000/30,000 (Est. EOT for 11-15 total entries)
25,000/50,000 (Est. EOT for 16-20 total entries)
Double from here to finish more quickly

T500:
6/12/12/1 starting stacks for 100K, with one rebuy of 0/0/0/4 per player:
60x 500
120x 1K
120x 5K
52x 25K

15 minute levels:
500/500
500/1000
500/1500
1000/2000
1500/3000
Break - Color Up 500s - End Rebuys
2K/4K
3K/6K
5K/10K
8K/16K
12K/24K
Break- Color Up 1Ks
20K/40K (Est. EOT for 5-8 total entries)
30K/60K (Est. EOT for 9-12total entries)
50K/100K (Est. EOT for 13-20 total entries)

I plan to buy china clay or hybride chip to be in the 300-500€ range.

Sound good i also came accross the 10/10/7/X, T500 based set for a full set of 400 chip.

Very effective as your solution.

Still have a no clue how much spare do i need for each denom actually.

Have you thought about trying T5 and staying within the same € amount but getting Paulson chips?
Or if you insist on t500, maybe consider hot stamps from CPC?

To me it’s all about the number of big blinds you start with and the blind structure more than what value you start with. I’d bet any of us with tournament director experience could make any game last the same length based solely on number of starting bigs and blinds structure and time.

I prefer T100 because that is how all of the casino's that I know of run their tournaments.
I like the 15/5/11/5 breakdown.

150 - 100's (you don't need extras) - bank is 15,000 that you'll need to color up
50 - 500's (you don't need extras) - bank is 25,000 that you'll need to color up
110 - 1000's (order 150 for rebuys/color ups) - leaves you with 40,000 extra
50 - 5000's (order 125 for rebuys/color ups) - leaves you with 375,000 extra
25 - 25,000 for rebuys/color up
This is a nice even 500 chips which you should be able to get from Justin for $300 with shipping and reshipping.

For the first 8 rebuys I'd give out 5 - 1k's and 7 - 5k's, if their are more rebuys than that then you can give 1 - 25k and 3 - 5k's.

Good Luck!

In a perfect world you do not need extras, in the real world a barrel of extras for each highly used denomination is a good practice.

I dislike T100s like this because the first colour up removes almost half of each players' chips

T500 as mentioned above. 400 chips is a perfect 10 player set
At this point, isn't T5 (or T1) more efficient with scalings 1-5-4-5 (T5) or 1-5-5-4 (T1) rather than 1-2-5-5 (T500) ? Assuming,we can arbitrarily choose scalings, which would be most efficient ?
