Hi everyone,

It's decided, I'm going to design a custom CPC set. I have two projects in mind. I share here the 1st.

This 1st set will have New Zealand as its main theme. We visited this country with my wife during our honeymoon and we fell in love with it. We promised ourselves to return there to introduce our son who was born a few months after our return.

I have planned the following denominations : 50c / $1 / $5 / $10 or $20. I also planned to design some NCV chips to use as 10c or 25c to make the set as flexible as possible.

Regarding the colors of the chips, I will take inspiration from the different landscapes that New Zealand offers. For the inlay, I would like to include symbols.

I plan to buy a CPC sample for the colors and for the different moulds.

Finally, the name of the set. Why not « Haka » or « Tongariro » (volcano where we hiked).

So, in order :

1. Order samples
2. Find a designer
3. Design the spots

PS : A member on the forum interested in working with me on the inlay?

The good news is you have a meaningful theme to base your set on which is the one thing that has been holding me back so that’s awesome.
Some advice on the denominations and chip count. CPC’s are expensive so getting all those different denominations will most likely be a waste of your money. There is really no need to have a .10, .25, and .50.
I would also scrap the idea of a $10 chip.
During your process pick your stakes. There are lots of posts on here helping with breakdowns.
If your player’s initial buy in is $20-$50 you should be able to just play .25/.25 blinds and you will only need .25, $1, $5, and $20 chips.
I’ve never played super low stakes so I’ll defer to someone else on here if your buy ins are less than $20.

General rule of thumb is there is really no need to have a chip that is only worth double the chip that supersedes it in value. So no need to have a .25 and .50 or $5 and $10 bc you can just bet two .25’s to equal .50 or two $5’s to equal $10.

Good luck!

@GetUrShineBox Thank you for your advice. Much appreciated.

Yeah I'm going to take the time to think about the breakdown of my set. It's true I had heard that CPC was expensive so I will see what is best for my home game

Do what you want, gorgeous scenery, but careful with the haka. Grew up with some of them and they consider that an important ritual and dance, not a club theme. Up to you, just speaking on it.

@NotRealNameNoSir Thanks for bringing this to my attention. In my mind, this was a tribute and not a disrespect. I don't want people to think that I'm appropriating something that doesn't belong to me and with which I have no connection. I'll keep your comment in mind.

That’s because in tournaments when blinds are 500/1000 or 1500/3000, etc…. It would be a huge pain to always put five 100’s out there.
The simple answer It’s different for tournaments because blinds change.
I'm not so sure that's what was meant by not understanding the 500 to 1000 jump. Correct me if I'm wrong @BigEastSteve, but I think you meant why the next jump is 1000 instead of 2000 or 2500... correct?

Yes
I understand why they do it, but I would like to try a jump to 2000 or 2500 just to see if it would work.
You wouldnt be the first, but its the norm for a reason. Most brains handle increments of 5 or 10 much easier than 2 or 2.5. The math isnt hard, no, but 3500 being 3 thousands and a 500 is easier for most than a 2.5k + 2 500s. Or 7k being 2 2.5k chips and 4 500s?

I like my 500s and 1000s, just plays smoother and allows me to make the jump to 5k easier, followed by the 25k.
